Surviving Birthday Parties

Surviving Birthday Parties

Birthday parties are time for fun and enjoyment. Children just want to have a fun time and they hardly note the intricacy of the arrangements. The main mantra for a great birthday party is to keep it simple. Here are few tips for having a great birthday party.

Birthday parties are getting ever so complicated. How do I throw a great birthday party without the accompanying expense?

Have you ever been for one of those perfect birthday parties? Where the balloons match the plates, which match the napkins, which match the gift wrapping on the return gifts? Do you think the children care, or even notice, these things? Let us see what children really want at a birthday party.

Try and Limit the Number of Guests

It is clear they want a great time. This does not mean a magic show or a clown. It is the adults who devise these distractions because parties are growing bigger and bigger and they do not want to deal with 50 children running amuck. So firstly, limit the number of children at your party. Your child should be very familiar with all the children at his party.

A Simple Entertainment can Work Wonders

Secondly, keep the entertainment simple. Very small children are happy to play with balls, sit in little cars or tricycles and play ring a’ roses. Tell your invitees to bring their little tricycles and balls to help you. Older children are happy to paint something or play games. Little boys are always happy to play football. If you like, you can show cartoons, short ones, which the children enjoy. Birthday parties CAN be managed without professional help.

Do Not Overlook the Basic Birthday Party Menu

Children always look forward to a cake and chips. Do not forget the candles and a matchbox. There was once a lady who spent a huge amount on catering, with a lot of yummy, fancy eats. But the children were a little shattered to find that she had forgotten the chips! So keep the menu simple and serve whatever the children enjoy.

Be Wise While Choosing a Return Gift

Our greedy little children always love a return gift. But the lovely thing is that they have no clue what these things cost, nor do they care. Also, the smaller the child, the more important quantity is over quality. So if you pack a return gift with many little gifts they may prefer it to one big one. Avoid a gift which will make mothers happy – such as water bottles and break boxes. Children like something fun and gimmicky.

In planning your party, do take your child’s temperament into consideration. Involve your child in the preparations and let him know what to expect.

In short, mathematically, the formula for a successful party reads as follows: Super party = invitations (guests) + activities + cake + food + balloons + return gifts. Plan these well, all the rest is extraneous.

It would be a great experience to see how easily you can throw a beach party, and enjoy thoroughly with your friends, and let the other fun seekers join you.
