Baby's Development (8-Month-Old)

Your 8-month-old baby will be in a crawling mode and will explore the world around her. Provide a stimulating environment and help in development of your 8-month-old baby.

It is really hard to believe how fast went away the first 8 months. It just seems few days back when you had welcomed your little one home from the hospital. She now looks more like an independent adventurer and busy discovering everything around her. Let us explore some of her developments this month.

Motors Skills Development in a 8-Month-Old Baby

Your little one has gained fair control over her ability to move forward by dragging herself. You may even find her sitting-up on her own with an ease. It is important that you keep the gates closed or stay by her side when she exploring her surroundings.
She can now quickly sit back and again get into the crawling mode very soon. No wonder, you may find her trying to stand with support of the furniture in your house. Unless your baby spends time outdoors, there is no need to buy her shoes. She shall gain better control in bare foot.

Brain Developments in a 8-Month-Old Baby

This is considered a very vital time for her brain development. Trillions of connections are forming every day that shall create the foundation stone of her learning. Stimulating the environment is a good way to help him learn. This does not mean that you need to invest in expensive toys and videos. Simple human interaction can prove highly valuable. Read, sing or talk to her to boost up her brain developments. Create a safe environment at home and allow her to explore the world around her.

Development of Communication Skills in Your Baby

You may find her babbling all the time now. Sometimes, the babbles may appear as sentences. Some of her words that you may understand now are "hi", "mama", "dada".
She is on her way of understanding the language you speak. You may start giving simple commands like "sit", "drink", and “bring the ball" and so on for her better understanding.
You may also find her responding with a smile when she finds you bringing her favourite toy.
Separation anxiety shall continue to bother even now. You may find her grumpy when she understands you are about to leave the room. However, do not worry much about this, as she shall soon learn to engage herself without you in the coming few months. Also, you may find her separation anxieties not lasting that long like before. This can be taken as a sign of her coping with you not being around for some time.

Feeding Patterns

Even if you are still breastfeeding your little one, you must have started with the solids by now. If you think your baby is more inclined to breastfeeding than taking the solids, you can encourage him to self feed herself.
Do not worry too much about the mess in the table and rather help her explore the different textures, tastes, and temperature. You can begin by offering her age appropriate foods to help her develop interest in eating.

For Your Information

Your little one is now eager to move around in her little world and explore everything on her way. Make sure you give her the liberty to roll, crawl and walk. Try to be by her side while she is trying to walk, so that you are there to hold when she tumbles or falls.
If you are thinking of setting limits for her, it is actually too early to think about it. However, she is in a position to understand the word "no" now.
You can hold her hands while she is trying to walk. This shall help her practice walking alone. It shall be a wonderful feeling assisting your little one in every single step she takes. You shall cherish these memories all through your life.
