Dried figs contain phenol, Omega-3 and Omega-6 which are fatty acids highly effective in significantly reducing the risk of coronary heart disease.

Prevention of Hypertension -

Figs are high in potassium and at the same time low in sodium which is very useful to prevent hypertension.

Although the health benefits of figs are numerous it must be consumed in moderate quantities only. Excessive consumption of figs can cause diarrhea. Also dried fits are rich in sugar capable of causing tooth decay.

Do dried figs have the same nutritive value as fresh figs? fresh figs is not available throughout the year so the only option left is dried figs.

Figs should be taken with care. They are good source of iron so good for curing anemia but they are also high in sugars so diabetics should beware.
