Tips for Choosing a Right Diet Plan

Diet plays an important part in weight loss program. A faulty diet plan will not lead to effective weight loss. With a faulty diet a person will not feel energetic. There are many diet plans in vogue today but one cannot vouch for their effectiveness. How should one choose a diet plan for losing weight? There are some basic guidelines for choosing a perfect diet plan to lose weight which will lead to a healthy and fit body. Read on and design your own diet plan.

Whatever a person eats and drinks during the course of a particular day comprises his diet plan. Choosing the right diet plan that would help you to stay fit and lose weight is an intelligent task. There are different types of diets doing the rounds like the Atkins diet, the South beach diet and the Zone diet.

Most of the diet plan involves the exclusion of certain foods wholly from the menu and limiting the portions to extremely small sizes. Their effectiveness in the end is doubtable although they might promote instant weight loss. A right diet plan should have a combination of foods that you like as well as dislike. They must also contain the required amount of calories and nutrients to aid good health. Here are certain tips for choosing the right diet:

Check the Calorie Levels

This type of diet plan falls mostly in the category of low-calorie diets. Majority of the popular weight loss diets provide 1000 to 1500 calories everyday. A right diet plan must be customised according to the weight and activity level of the respective individual. As you check the calories levels, you need to note that ideally not allow a weight loss of over a pound for a week. If you have a count on how much calories you are taking in, a right diet plan can be readily designed. Take the aid of a trained health professional or a registered dietician if need be and fix up a right diet plan that works on a fixed calorie level.

Importance of Good Nutrition

A right diet plan must have all the essential nutrients for good health. Check into the Nutrition Facts Label and you will know what amount of each ingredient should ideally be there in your diet. A right diet must have:

Adequate Minerals and Vitamins
– The Food Guide Pyramid will give you a clue that you can readily derive all the essential minerals and vitamins required by the body.

Adequate Protein
– An adequate amount of protein is necessary as it can prevent the breaking down of the muscle tissues and repairs body tissues like skin and teeth. A right diet plan must have 2-3 servings of eggs, dry beans, nuts, fish, poultry and meat.

Adequate Carbohydrates
– Carbs are essential to prevent fluid imbalances and fatigue. They are the energy providers. So around 6-11 servings of carbs from the group of rice, bread, cereals or pasta is essential.

Adequate Fiber
– A right diet plan should have 20-30 gm of fiber everyday. It primarily helps to maintain proper bowel function. A diet comprising of a cup of bran cereal, half-cup of kidney beans, a medium-sized pear and a medium sized apple can provide 30 gm of fiber.

Adequate Amount of Water
– Your diet plan must ideally have no less than 8-10 glasses of water everyday. The body needs to be adequately hydrated and more so, when you workout.

The Fat Content Must Not be More than 30% of the Total Calorie Intake
– As you limit your fat intake, the risk for heart diseases reduces and you lose weight easily. Simultaneously if you reduce your cholesterol intake, it is even better. It should ideally not be more than 300 mg/day.

By keeping these points in mind you can make sure that the diet plan which you follow helps to lose weight at the same time provides adequate nutrition to your body.
