Liv Tyler: Celebrity Mom

Liv Tyler: Celebrity Mom

Liv Tyler is not your average Hollywood mom. Read on to discover what it is like to be a celebrity mom.

We have watched her enchant our hearts as Arwen, the elf from Lord of the Rings, or as Grace Stamper in Armageddon. Liv Tyler is a well known star among Hollywood's young parents.

Early Childhood

Born on July 1, 1977, Liv Tyler is the daughter of Steven Tyler, the lead singer of the rock band Aerosmith, and Bebe Buell, model, Playboy Playmate. Named after Liv Ulman the actress, with a name that means life, Liv was raised by Bebe Buell and Todd Rundgren (rock star). At the age of nine, she discovered that her biological father was Steven Tyler.
While growing up, little Liv was considered to be a very happy and active child. According to her mother Bebe, Liv was fond of drawing and painting during her childhood. Liv also enjoyed swimming and was fond of animals and pets.

Ramp Model

Liv started her career as a model at the age of 14, in New York. She was always fond of dressing up even as a child. Liv says, "My mom was so amazing. She was a singer and she'd been a model so she had all these beautiful clothes and makeup, and in the bathroom all her jewellery was pinned to the wall...it was more than a little girl could ever dream of! When she went out, she would always say, 'Don't get into my stuff!' and the first thing I would do was go mad dressing up."

Foray into Acting

Even though her mother and grandmother were models, Liv soon found her calling in acting, after just a year of the modelling grind. One of her first onscreen appearances on TV was with Alicia Silverstone in the Aerosmith music video Crazy, in 1993.

Motherhood

Liv added motherhood to her long line of accomplishments. Having married British rocker Royston Langdon on March 25, 2003, Liv gave birth to baby Milo William Langdon on December 14, 2004. The name of her baby Milo means merciful.

Life after Motherhood

Liv manages to balance her responsibilities as a young mother with her passion for acting. In 2004, Liv acted in the film Jersey girl, and, in 2005, she starred in Lonely Jim.
As with any mother, Liv has often spoken about how Milo has changed her life. Speaking to Allure magazine, Liv says, "I wasn't sure that [acting] made me happy or fulfilled...there are all the other parts that are hard for actors, like press junkets and endless travelling around and talking about yourself. All those things started to outweigh the pleasure for me. Milo came at the most perfect time for me, in that I just really needed to figure all that stuff out."

Responsible Parenting

Liv is not only a caring mother but an extremely responsible one as well. She goes beyond the boundary of her family to care for others. Liv was appointed as the National Ambassador for the US Fund for UNICEF in 2003.
Liv Tyler credits her level-headed nature to her upbringing. She feels that her parents were so laid back that she had nothing to rebel against. While other kids may have rebelled by smoking or sneaking out to rock concerts, Liv didn't have to follow suit. Liv's parents often went for rock concerts, sometimes with their daughter. Thus doing so would not have been rebelling for Liv. Liv hates piercings and tattoos. She tries to live life as down-to-earth as possible. "I don't live a very posh life. There are no drivers waiting or people doing everything for me. I pretty much live like a normal person…It's not good to have a life without responsibilities, you know?"

Pressures of a Celebrity Mom

How is it different being a celebrity mom? Famed celebrity and parent Liv Tyler is constantly in the spotlight. Every aspect of her life is well documented by the paparazzi when she is on the streets. Such a mundane thing as bending over to tie her two-year-old son's shoe laces earns her a spot in the limelight. Nevertheless, Liv does not let it hamper her responsibilities as a mother. She manages to be a responsible mother and has plans to increase her family in the future.
