10 Things Parents Should Never Say to Girls

10 Things Parents Should Never Say to Girls
Saying certain things to girls can hamper their self esteem and confidence. Therefore, parents should avoid gender discrimination and be careful when they are talking to their daughters. Have a quick look at the things which parents should never say to girls.

Parenthood is a very responsible time, which, once starts, continues forever. But being a parent, it is very important to make the base strong when your kid is young. Once you make the roots strong, even when the wings grow up, your child will always be able to maintain a balance. Teaching your kid gender equality is very important. Raising a girl child with cautiousness and patience is very important. Here are 10 things which you should never say to your girl.

1. “It is Not a Girl’s Job”

Do not categorize work based on genders. There should be chances for every person to pursue his or her choice of career. Instead, boost your daughter by telling stories of female astronauts, male violinists, female boxer, etc., which will help her understand gender equality.

2. “You Are Getting Too Fat”

There is no hard rule for girls to have a model-like figure. Allow your daughter to eat what she wants but at the same time, teach her about healthy food. Many girls go through starvation and suffer from anorexia being called fat and going under severe depression.

3. “You Can Never Do It”

Asking your daughter to lower her expectations and crushing her spirit and thus killing her potential is a big mistake parents often make. Never do that. Always get to know her interest and encourage her to follow her dreams; otherwise she will never be able to dare to achieve her dreams.

4. “You Look Like a Guy”

If your daughter is fond of short hair, jeans, and shirts – it is not the end of the world. Allow her to wear what she likes. No need to feminize her when she does not want to. Even asking your daughter to put make up is ridiculous.

5. “You Are Too Young for That”

Do not compare your daughter to yourself. If she has made a mistake, explain her that we are humans and mistakes are acceptable. Do not insult her saying she is too young for making wise decisions. Instead, you should boost and support her to work over her mistake.

6. “You Should Stay Shut”

This is the worst learning parent gives to their daughters, which leads to suppression of the gender and severe depression. You should always ask your daughter to speak her mind up as long as she is not being rude, as she shares the equal right to speak.

7. “Do Not Laugh So Loud”

Men can laugh in the way they want, but women cannot, really? Do not support all these sexist illogical lessons that society teaches to your daughter. Always allow her to be expressive and laugh the heart out.

8. “I Will Do It for You”

Every parent love their daughter and want to give her a life of princess. But do not forget to teach her to be independent. Teach her to do all types of household chores and be responsible on her own.

9. “Do Not Stay Out Late, You Are a Girl”

Yes, you can feel insecure if your girl does not return home early on time, but that certainly does not mean that you will ask your daughter to be back because she is a girl. Tell her about the hazards of staying out late. You can provide better reasons, like you love her and worry if she is not around, and put the sexist concern off.

10. “It Is a Boy’s Sports”

Categorizing sports on the basis of girls and boys is strange. Even girls can play basketball, football, etc. Every game is for everyone. Sports have nothing to do with genders.
Pay attention to what your daughter says. Always allow her to express herself. Be patient and cautious, but at the same time, you should be steady-handed and always keep learning how to improve your parenting skills even when your girl reaches womanhood.

How should parents talk to girls? What can give rise to gender discrimination? How to boost confidence and self esteem of girls? Discuss here.

Girls should be treated like flowers. Each petal is precious. If one petal fells all with fall.
