Emotional health of the expectant mother is a delicate issue as it affects both the mother and the baby. Find out how emotional wellbeing of the mother affects the wellbeing of the baby and how to deal with it.

Ups and downs in emotional health are part and parcel of the pregnancy package. Every pregnant woman goes through these stages that are sometimes expected and sometimes a surprise. During pregnancy, a number of changes take place in the body from both the physical and emotional aspect. It therefore becomes important that measures are taken to secure the emotional health of the expectant mother through effective health management. Why This Emotional Upheaval?

Just as the way the body changes its shape during the pregnancy term, so also the emotional status. The woman is often overwhelmed with a rapid splurge of thoughts. The new experience is often beyond natural comprehension and this augments the condition further. This perplexity makes her confront with her own thoughts, which often turn out difficult to manage without a close support from the spouse or family members.

The situation can become serious and of worry if the woman happens to shut herself from her surroundings and not talk about the built up emotions inside her. If people around her are not aware that she is going through an emotional turmoil she may lose out on timely support psychological or clinical. It can lead to fatal consequences for the mother and the growing foetus. At the same time one must note that this emotional upsurge or the overwhelming sensation is not totally a negative one. This basically provides an opportunity to couples to bond better and understand what pregnancy, motherhood and parenthood is all about.
