I did this diet in 2008, and I lost 6 pounds in one week. I had a very hard time shedding pounds, so this was very exciting. After the GM diet ended I continued watching what I ate. I basically tossed out most of my carbs and ate protein and vegetable. I lost a total of 15 pounds in a relatively short time. I was thrilled. I then took a trip to Italy, and there was just too much pasta for me to resist. I am now on day four (banana and milk day) of this diet. My husband is doing it with me, and I think he is finding it extremely difficult. I knew what to expect. I think the first two days were very hard for me this time. I had bizarre dreams, and I felt very weak and unwell in the morning on those days. I am past that now and wake up feeling much better than I did before I started the diet. If you can stick with this diet and not get scared because you are fatigued or "feel funny," and have the will power to really make a 7 day commitment, you can lose weight doing this diet - and it will put your body in weight loss mode so that you can continue to lose weight. The trick is to keep on watching what you eat and figure out what works best for you. I found a website calle The Daily Plate that allowed me to find the foods I was eating in its vast library of foods both found in the grocery and in restaurants. The calories and nutrients are already calculated. This site allows you to keep track of every bit of calories, fat, sodium, etc. that you put in your mouth. It is the ONLY way to diet - to be able to see what you are doing is very eye-opening. You can keep the weight off if you are ready to make a commitment at the end of the GM diet to make a change in your life style.
