You can take up issues like excessive work travel or shift duties during pregnancy with your human resources manager. The issues can thus be addressed and sorted out amicably in the interest of all concerned.

How to Deal with Morning Sickness?

Majority of women do experience nausea or morning sickness during pregnancy. You cannot rule out the possibility of your getting sick while at work and must be prepared to handle it. In case you are not ready to share the news of your baby with all at work you must at least inform your immediate supervisor of your pregnancy. To manage nausea at work you must keep wet wipes, tissue papers and mouthwash handy.

Work Attire during Pregnancy

In the first trimester when your baby bump is not clearly visible you can continue wearing normal clothes to work. However, as your pregnancy progresses to give a professional look you may have to switch over to wearing business maternity wear. Such clothes are easily available in most maternity stores and can be ordered online too.

Energy Levels during Different Stages of Pregnancy

During the first and third trimesters it is common for pregnant women to feel constantly tired and absent minded. You can consider seeking the help of your colleagues to support you temporarily in any way that they can during this time. The second trimester is normally better than the first one and women are bound to feel more energetic during this period. As a result there will be no issues pertaining to concentrating and finishing work on time.

Self Care Tips For Pregnant Women at Work

Have a quick look at some tips for working during pregnancy.

Sit Comfortably - Make sure that you sit comfortably while working. Your desk should be properly placed and the chair should support your back. Working on computers is safe for your baby. However, pregnant women are at a greater risk of developing Carpel Tunnel syndrome, symptoms of which include numb and achy fingers. Hence, you must abstain from working for long hours on a computer while pregnant and make sure to consult a doctor upon noticing the first signs of this disorder.

Take Help of Your Colleagues - You must seek and accept help of your colleagues when you feel tired or are unable to work. There is no point in getting unduly stressed when there are people to support you. You can also perform deep breathing exercises at workplace when you feel stressed out. Taking short walks or simply stretching the body is also useful to manage work stress.

Pregnancy Diet - Do pay attention to your diet. During pregnancy you must give up having excessive coffee at workplace. Carry home cooked food and eat at regular intervals. Ensure to drink plenty of water and other fluids to keep your body hydrated.

It is possible for you to work through your pregnancy without any issues. All that is required on your part is to make conscious efforts to eat right and manage stress at workplace to keep yourself and the baby healthy while working.
