However, there is also a cause of concern as bananas are rich in chitinase which is a very common allergen. The chitinase allergen is connected to the latex fruit disorder. If you are allergic to or respond negatively to fruits containing latex then bananas might not be good for you.

Apart from bananas, kiwis, chestnuts and avocados contain high amounts of chitinase. In case you have already demonstrated intolerance to any of the above-named fruits it is recommended that you check with a doctor before incorporating bananas as a major part of your diet.
