Is drinking coffee good for health? Read on and find about the health benefits and harmful effects of drinking coffee.

Recent research suggests that coffee cuts down your risk of developing Parkinson's disease. We are not suggesting that you start drinking the beverage especially if you are not a coffee fan, but those of you who can't do without their daily cup should be happy with this good news. There is still a limit to the amount of coffee you should consume, and irrespective of this upside, excessive coffee is bad for you.

Coffee as one of the daily necessities

Coffee which has become a necessity these days has been the focal point of many debates. While almost everyone these days loves a cup of coffee, they are also afraid about how coffee can affect their health. There have been many researches and the opinion is divided, while most people claim that there is nothing like coffee to help you stay awake and working, some argue that too much coffee is not good for the body. It has many side effects, which do not show immediately but slowly affect the body.
We too were confused because sometimes coffee is a delicacy we all indulge in, and sometimes it is the only thing that helps us to stay up and work all night. We have combined a set of advantages and disadvantages of coffee which will help you in making a decision about your coffee intake.

Coffee brightens your mood, helps fight depression

You know that feeling when you sip from your first cup of coffee in the morning? That one moment of absolute joy, that is the coffee working. Coffee contains a substance known as caffeine, and that is what gives you that kick. The caffeine acts as a stimulant on your nervous system and helps wake up even the most depressed brain.
Whenever you are depressed just go to a cafe and drink some coffee and you will instantly feel great. It is a drug to soothe the nerves. Research has shown that drinking at least two cups of coffee a day helps fight suicidal instincts, because it helps relieve the brain from depression. So your mood becomes better after a cup, you do not stay depressed and you can go about your life happily.

Coffee protects the body

Coffee contains many anti-oxidants which are actually like cleansers. It helps rid your body of accumulated toxins and flushes them out. They keep out the bad elements from attacking your body. The caffeine also helps reduce the chances of you ever getting Alzheimer' or dementia. Even diseases like type 1 diabetes can be prevented.

Disadvantages of drinking coffee

Now let us look at the disadvantages:

Insomnia and restlessness

Many drinkers complain of loss of sleep or fidgety feeling if they drink too much coffee. 400 mg is the maximum amount of caffeine that you should give to your body and amounts more than this make you restless. Know what type of coffee is ideal for you, if you are a latte person, do not go for espresso. There is a safe limit for everyone and it varies. Try to restrict yourself to two cups.

Toxic

If you have not heard this before, let me tell you the wrong type of coffee can kill you. Coffee needs to go through a lot of processes to ensure that it is free of all impurities. If you buy cheap coffee from anywhere, chances are that it has not been processed properly. If you end up ingesting the impurities, you can get a headache, start vomiting and just feel sick. Just one bad coffee bean can make your coffee unsuitable for drinking. So ensure that you buy your coffee from someplace you trust.

Harmful

Pregnant women often drink loads of coffee to keep themselves energetic. But research shows that pregnant women should restrict themselves to one cup a day. Whatever you drink goes to your child, so will the caffeine through blood. Foetus is sensitive to caffeine and too much can harm it. Even the people who have cholesterol should refrain from too much coffee. Even if they drink, they must choose the filtered version.
Coffee is controversial so the best way would be to refrain from drinking more than two cups. Find healthier methods to stay active like sipping on green tea or munching some nuts and dry fruits.
