My in-laws were visiting us and whenever it rained my father-in-law had taught my almost 2 yr old son to sing - "Rain, rain go away. My papa has to find his way. I am bored without him, go and rain at Kim." Next month we went to Washington and there it started to rain all of a suddenly and along with all the other people we ran for shelter. My 5 year old daughter, Latika, wanted to know how I knew that my sister was going to have a baby? So I pointed out her big tummy, saying, “the baby grows in the stomach, and when it is big enough, it comes out.” That evening, we encountered a fat man in the lift, when we went to visit my mother. My little one gaped at his stomach for a few minutes, and then, much to his embarrassment, and mine said, “look mummy, this man is going to have a baby.”

My daughter, Sunaina, a pre-schooler , has just started learning all about the animals and their children. She knows that a cat has kittens, a lion gets cubs, etc. One evening, last week, we had to go for a wedding. As Sunaina hates meeting people, she was reluctant to come. But as we could not leave her alone at home, we forced her to come. As we entered a distant relative came up to us and patted her on the head saying, “How cute, is this your kid?” At which Sunaina, shot back, “How dare you
