Top 10 Pregnancy Don

Pregnancy period is very critical. Therefore, you should be very particular about what to eat and what not to eat during pregnancy, what to do and what not to do during pregnancy. You should be aware of all the pregnancy do’s and don’ts to make sure that you have safe pregnancy. Read on to find top 10 pregnancy don’ts right here.

There are certain things that should be completely avoided during pregnancy because they do much more harm to the unborn child and can lead to deformities. It is said that pregnancy period should be the happiest period in a woman’s life. It is the most important thing that the pregnant woman takes care of her health along with her baby’s health during this time period.

Things to Avoid During Pregnancy

Have a quick look at the top 10 pregnancy don’ts.

  1. Smoking –

    Smoking is considered as the first item on the hit list. It is clear that pregnant mothers should not smoke during their pregnancy time. Studies reveal that inhaling the smoke if someone is smoking nearby it is even more dangerous. So, try to avoid the place where people are smoking and take deep breaths in fresh air.
  2. Alcohol –

    Alcohol is said to have large amount of adverse effects on the unborn child. Various types of birth defects, central nervous system dysfunctions and mental retardation cases are possible with the child if his mother consumes alcohol during pregnancy.
  3. X-rays –

    Pregnant women should avoid having x-rays during pregnancy, even if it is necessary, try to postpone it till childbirth. If it is extremely important at least wait for the end of the first trimester.
  4. Pesticides –

    Avoid getting into contact with pesticides in any form. The chemicals are extremely harmful. Try to avoid as much as you can because even a small amount can lead to learning disabilities in the child.
  5. Stress –

    Avoid having stress in any form. If you lead a hectic lifestyle, try to meditate and do breathing exercises as these will calm your nerves down and help you stay relaxed and comforted. Stress should be at the minimum so that health of the mother and the child remains proper throughout.
  6. Medicines –

    Avoid talking medicines during pregnancy. You should not even take any medicine for cough, cold, headache or some common illness without your gynecologist’s consent.
  7. Caffeine –

    Avoiding caffeine does not only mean avoiding or limiting the intake of coffee. It is present in green tea, soft drinks, cola and black tea also. So, minimise the intake of all these things during pregnancy.
  8. Food Items –

    There are certain food items that should be avoided during pregnancy. For example fish high in mercury, canned foods, raw meat, raw eggs and soft cheeses. Fruits like papaya and pineapple should be completely avoided during pregnancy.
  9. Animal Liver –

    Do not consume animal lever on regular basis. Once in a while it is not harmful but it is better to be safe and avoid frequent intake. Too much consumption can result in birth defects.
  10. Artificial Sweeteners –

    Consumption of artificial sweeteners is not safe for the pregnant women. The artificial sweetener used in diet soda or even in tea and coffee should be avoided as far as possible.

Just keep in mind that when you are pregnant, it is your responsibility to bring a healthy child to this world. You can do what is in your hands and if your husband or any member of the family smokes, you can sit and talk over the matter. Everyone in your family must be concerned with your pregnancy and the well being of the unborn child. So they will take care of the matter and support you throughout the pregnancy period, mentally, emotionally and morally as well.

Some pesticides are common in homes such as those used for mosquitoes and cockroaches but i think these should also be avoided in pregnancy

i used to have 3-4 cups of coffee per day. after reading this article, i have reduced my intake as now i am planning to have a baby.
