Fatherhood is a job that you will have to undertake throughout your life. So, it is very important that you decide whether you are ready for fatherhood or not. Parenthood is full of peril and uncertainty and the moment you conceive your child, life changes.


Questions to Ask to Find If You are Ready for Fatherhood

You need to ask yourself the following questions to find if you are ready for fatherhood.

Are you Fully Committed? - Are you fully committed to your partner? Well, when you are deciding to bring a child to this world you owe him the environment that is expected from a nuclear family. If you have issues, sort it out first.

Are you Responsible Enough? - Can you sacrifice and put someone first in your life? Being a father you will need to sacrifice lot of things especially when you have to choose from your desires and family’s needs as you will have an added responsibility.

Do you Have a Good Support System? -  The support system can be from family members, relatives, friends or neighbours. Check out what you have so that you give your best to your child.

Are you Mature Enough? - You should find out whether you are mature enough for being a father or not by taking a hard look at yourself. This is important when taking such vital decisions of life.


Point to Consider while Getting Ready for Fatherhood

You need to consider following points if you are planning to have a baby.

Diet – Eating healthy food works wonder. It will boost your chances of making your partner pregnant and will keep you healthy and fit. So, avoid junk food and start eating nutritious food including fresh fruits and vegetables.

Calcium and Vitamin D – Calcium and vitamin D improves fertility in men. Fat free milk and yogurt are good sources of calcium and for vitamin D you can rely on milk and fish.

Quit Smoking, Drinking and Other Drugs – It is advisable to quit smoking and avoid alcohol and other drugs before attempting to make your partner pregnant.

Medicines – Certain medicines are harmful for men when you and your partner are trying for pregnancy. Consult your doctor if you are taking any medicine regularly.

Avoid – Keep away from violent sports, sauna bath, hot bathtubs and avoid very tight fitted clothes.

Get Rid of Stress – Try to be stress free. Switch to healthy routines. Regular exercise or yoga and meditation help a lot to de-stress yourself.

Watch out Dangers at Workplace – Direct contact with harmful rays or chemicals should be avoided.

Family’s Medical History – Find out and discuss with your doctor if there is any kind of medical disorder prevailing in your family.

Read Books and Articles – Read more and more about fatherhood. Gather more information on pregnancy so that you can give complete support to your wife.

Congratulations! So, you have finally decided and going to be a father soon. This is one of the greatest and unique experience in this world and of your entire life. There is a mixed feeling of anxiety and excitement. Do not worry, this is natural.

Overall, you are going to enter into a challenging part of your life and the expectations and demands arise before and after this event. Fatherhood is not difficult provided you are ready – mentally and physically.
