Getting Pregnant and Ideal Weight Concern

Getting Pregnant and Ideal Weight Concern

Planning a pregnancy also means brushing up one’s knowledge about the reproductive system and healthy body. A healthy body is a fit body with an ideal weight. An ideal weight is a relative term as it varies from person to person depending on the age, height and other factors. Ideal weight can be calculated with BMI. A healthy body helps in enduring the rigours of pregnancy and thus in easy delivery of a healthy baby. Weight is one of the most important factors in pregnancy as being overweight can cause infertility or lead to complications during pregnancy. Let us learn about the importance of maintaining an ideal weight before pregnancy.

Ideal weight before getting pregnant is all about maintaining your shape. There is no ideal weight in the form a definite numerical figure as it is completely relative to every individual and her overall body conditions. However there are a few discerning factors that are common for all like, the height and age of the person. Ideal weight can be readily calculated as in the BMI or the Body Mass Index form.

Ideal weight comprises of two essential factors like staying healthy and staying fit. When you are planning pregnancy, it is important that you prepare your body for the challenge and help it cope with the associated factors that come as a package so that during and even after delivery, the mother as well as the baby stays in good health.

Weight Affects Big Time

Weight, whether it is being overweight or underweight can render a big impact on the woman’s ovulation and fertilization, the two essential steps that lead to pregnancy. Weight issues can bring about a major upheaval in the desired balance of hormones that are required for a successful pregnancy.

Sample the situation when you are overweight. The extra kilos basically come from the massive fat cells. They not only blow up your appearance but produce a firm flow of the estrogen hormone. The impact that it renders on your fertility state is similar to the effect that a low dose of birth control pill has on your system. This entails that it hinders the prospect of conception at the onset.

There are other harmful actions of estrogen too. It suppresses the secretion of other vital hormones like LH or Luteinizing hormone and FSH or follicle stimulation hormone. They play a major role in triggering the ovulation process.

Being overweight also exposes the woman to the risk of the development of PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome which is a highly complex situation where the woman suffers a hormonal imbalance. The testosterone levels surge resulting in the complete shut down of the ovulation process.

Similarly being underweight makes your body weaker and ill-prepared for the nurturing of a new life. The body is bereft of the natural strength due to the lack of essential nutrients.

Acquiring and maintaining an ideal weight before pregnancy is achievable when you keep in mind some simple points:

Focus on Staying Healthy by Altering your General Lifestyle

Always have a healthy and well balanced diet. By checking what you are consuming throughout the day, you can easily control your weight and attain the ideal weight. Your diet should be rich in fruits and vegetables. Incorporate a fair amount of cereals and pulses like legumes for the extra energy and protein requirements. Low fat dairy products are also essential for a healthy body. Seek the advice of your healthcare provider and dietician to ensure that your body receives all the essential nutrients.

Cut back on all processed food as they affect the digestive system and enhance the calorie levels. Further they lack on the natural vitamins, minerals and nutrients and thus give nothing useful to the body except from doing their bit in piling up the toxins and fats.

Exercise

You need to work out at least three times a week to get the ideal weight before getting pregnant. Exercising is an excellent way to keep in shape as it helps you to lose the extra calories and work on your joints and muscles and attain a healthy and fit body that is so needed when you are carrying a baby. Work out under professional guidance so that you receive proper advice on what should be your ideal working style according to your body condition.

Before long, you will glad to notice that an ideal weight has not only boosted up your self-confidence but you will also have the necessary hormonal levels and a fabulous reproductive system that will encourage a fast and successful pregnancy.

Weight does affect chances of getting pregnant. I was overweight and had difficulty in conceiving. I enrolled in a weight loss program. When I reached my ideal weight, I tried getting pregnant and was successful.
