10 Ways for Helping Kids Develop Love for Studies

10 Ways for Helping Kids Develop Love for Studies

Does your child hate studying? Read on and find out the 10 effective ways which you can follow to help your child develop love for studies.

Making your child love studies sound really tough, but it is not impossible. Asking your child repeatedly to study becomes really annoying, but what if your child starts studying on his or her own, this can be done! Here is a list of 10 ways to develop love for studies in your child.

1. Help Your Kid Learn for Himself or Herself and Not for Exams

Your kid may think he or she has to study for exams and then get a job in future. But this is a false point and also boring. You can never make your child feel interested about studies if he or she has such mindset. Discuss the subjects that your kid learns from school and make it interesting for him or her to learn for himself or herself.

2. Set the Study Place

Choose the correct place in your home and make it a study place for your kid. The place shall be away from noises and other distraction. It shall be cozy, comfortable, and well lighted. Discuss with your kid before you decide on to the study place.

3. Clean the Study Room and Organize It

Your child will not like to study in a messy room. Clean the study room and organize the desk with useful stationeries and other study materials. Do it with the help of your kid so that he or she finds it more interesting.

4. Shop Stationeries with Kid

Shopping stationeries is fun. Get cute notebooks, colorful pens, highlighters, stickers, etc. – anything to make the study room interesting but not distracting at the same time.

5. Keep All Distractions at Bay

Switch your computer, mobile, or TV off when your kid is studying. Ask him or her to do the same if he or she possesses a mobile or a laptop or computer depending on his or her age. Also, make sure no other family member talks or chats near the study room – there shall be no distraction. Keep the doors closed.

6. Make a Daily Routine and Stick to It

Discuss with your kid and make a study plan. Set timer for every goal. This will keep your child motivated when he or she will finish his or her studies on time. Always keep a chance to extend the time in case he or she gets late. Follow a strict routine and discuss with your kid so that he or she also prepares himself or herself to study at that time.

7. Take Breaks

Make sure your kid takes breaks and have some fun in between studies. This helps them feel stress-free. The break shall be short and not very long that it becomes difficult to get back to study again. You can provide some snacks or juice during these breaks.

8. Always Be There

Remember to frame your schedule and keep yourself available for your kid when he or she is studying. Show your child that you are there for him or her. Do not leave him or her alone while studying.

9. Become Familiar with Your Kid’s Study Material

It can get difficult to help with your kid’s study if you do not make yourself familiar with his or her study materials. Involve with your kid in studying, help him or her do the homework only if needed, and bud the interest of studies in him or her. Take the initiative.

10. Acknowledge and Reward

Catch your child being good at studies. Acknowledge his or her hard work. When your child finishes his or her homework, praise him or her. Praise is not always with words, even smile and hugs play wonder at times. Reward with small gifts like chocolates or allowing your child watch his or her favorite TV show as he or she finishes studying. This will always motivate your kid and develop a sense of achievement in him or her.
Always talk to your kid how fun it used to be in your schooldays when you used to study. Related to the subjects your kid learns now to the time when you used to study the same. Give real examples and relate to his or her chapters. It is all so much of fun and gradually, your child will be blessed with the love for studies.

Why do most of the kids find studies boring? How to encourage kids to study on daily basis? How to help kids develop love for studies? Discuss here.

I made my kid to follow a strict study time. I ensure that he is not distracted during his study time. I have a habit of rewarding him whenever he performs well in his exams. I got this idea from his class teacher at Orchids International during a parent teacher meeting and it works well.
