Easy-to-Prepare Lunch Box Ideas for Children

Here are easy-to-prepare lunch box ideas for moms so that they can try out these recipes for their kids to keep them happy and give treat to their taste buds.

Making Lunch for Kids

Mothers always find it difficult to satisfy their kids even though they prepare varieties of food items for their lunch. Kids need to carry sufficient food items when they are in school. None of the kids like to have the same dishes for their meals every day. Find here some of the Indian lunch box recipes for kids.

Peas Pulao

Peas Pulao along with raita and corn curry is a very good combination for kids’ lunch. Nowadays frozen peas are available throughout the year so this recipe can be made any time of the year. Mint Leaves and cinnamon added to this pulao will surely enhance the taste to a great extent.

The main ingredients of Peas Pulao are rice and Peas which are easily available. This recipe can be prepared within a short time period by using pressure cooker. This is a healthy recipe as for preparing pulao with one and half cup rice, only 1 tablespoon of oil is needed. Onion and ginger-garlic paste can also be added while preparing this pulao. Kids will get carbohydrates from rice and protein from peas and minerals and vitamins from the vegetables used in the pulao. If Raita ( which is prepared using curd) is given then that will provide protein, carbohydrates and fats along with different types of minerals like calcium, phosphorus, and Vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin C.

Chole and Puri

As this recipe involves fried Puries, it cannot be served frequently. Mothers can prepare this recipe occasionally. Most of the kids like to eat Puri and if it is served with Chole it is one of the best lunch recipes for the kids. Mothers can prepare Chole the previous night to avoid rush in the morning but Puris have to be prepared fresh in the morning before packing the lunch box. The main ingredient for Chole is the chick pea or Kabuli Chana.

Vegans use tomatoes, ginger, Aamchur, cumin seeds and garam masala for preparing chole. Puris are prepared with Maida or by mixing little bit of maida along with wheat flour. Adding lemon juice in the chole will enhance its taste. Puri and chole have lots of nutritional value as kids get carbohydrates, proteins and fats from this lunch recipe.

Pav Bhaji

Pav Bahji is a common food item of Maharashtra State in India but nowadays people from all over India has got liking for this mouth licking food item. Pav Bhaji is made with Pav Buns and varieties of vegetables. Kids get carbohydrates from Pav Buns.

Normally, children do not like to eat vegetables but when Bhaji is made for Pav Bhaji, specific spices are added making the vegetable look and taste awesome. Vegetables that are added to prepare the Bhaji are mainly potatoes, carrots, cauliflower, cabbage, and capsicum. After boiling the vegetables, they are sautéed with chopped garlic, onion, chat masala, garam masala, and salt. To make it taste better lemon juice is added too. The Pav Buns are fried using butter which gives more energy to the children. During winter, fresh peas can be steamed along with other vegetables to make the Bhaji taste much better.

Making the lunch box ready for the kids is not an easy job. Mothers always find it difficult to satisfy their kids. The above easy-to-prepare lunch box ideas for kids would definitely bring satisfaction and joy for the mothers when they prepare lunch items for their kids.
