How to Avoid Breast Cancer

Breast cancer can be avoided if proper care is taken. In this article you will find information on symptoms of breast cancer. You will also find some helpful health tips for preventing breast cancer.

Breast cancer is any kind of malignant growth that occurs in the breast tissues. This can spread and can become fatal if not diagnosed on time and treated. However, if you are a woman it is always better to avoid the reasons that cause breast cancer. You can also make your immune system strong and then stay fit to fight with the cancerous growth if there is any in you. One of the drawbacks that breast cancer has is that it has lot of risk factors.

Symptoms of Breast Cancer

In its initial stage, breast cancer has practically no symptoms at all. There is no pain or growth seen apparently. It is only after some time that one observes some symptoms like

  • Increase in the breast size
  • Thickening in breast or armpits
  • Discharge from the nipples
  • Wrinkles or development of scales on breast

Tips for Avoiding Breast Cancer

Since treatment depends on the stage of cancer, it is always better to avoid it as far as possible.

Maintain an Ideal Healthy Body Weight

Increase in the weight is observed to be one of the causes of developing breast cancer in women. So, try to reach the ideal weight and maintain it so that you stay away from many health ailments including breast cancer.

Increase Intake of Fruits and Vegetables

dark leafy vegetable like spinach, collards, and kale along with green vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, sprouts, broccoli, carrots and tomatoes are said to be superstars of breast cancer protection. You can have seven or more servings of these food items daily. It is good to eat these vegetables either raw or lightly cooked for better results.

Regular Exercise

Many studies have revealed that women who exercise regularly are able to avoid breast cancer to a great extent. It is ideal to do moderate exercise for 30 minutes and at least 5 days a week. Consistency and the duration are important here.

Since fats are of different types, some are good for you while some can affect your breast cancer risk also. Increasing the intake of omega-3 fat is helpful while omega-6 and other saturated fats should be avoided or at least the intake should be minimized.

Increase Intake of Complex Carbohydrates

Try to avoid simple carbohydrates like white flour, write rice, sugar and white potatoes. You should also avoid the products containing these food items. Instead try to switch to whole grain, wheat, beans and legumes.

Consume Soy Products

Soy products are very helpful in keeping you healthy. Just make sure you have organic soy products to be more precise.

Consume Organic Food Products

If you cannot afford organic food products, you must thoroughly wash the food products you buy before you consume them.

Supplements

Dietary supplements like vitamin C and vitamin E in ideal doses can help a lot in avoiding breast cancer.

Maintain a Positive Outlook

This is the most important aspect without which all efforts will go in vain.

If you are able to follow the tips and maintain your health throughout the rest of your life, you will be able to stay away from the risks of not only breast cancer, but also other health ailments. The mind and body association is also very important here.
