Shopping for a Baby

Shopping for a Baby

Have you decided on the baby items that you need while shopping for a baby? If no, then here are suggestions on what to buy for your baby and what should be on your baby shopping list.

You have been spending a great deal of time in devising a shopping list for various occasions. Shopping for a baby is an extremely exciting experience especially if it happens to be your first baby. There are so many oh-so-cute baby items that you will be tempted to splurge on them, but it is advisable to get your baby shopping list in order so that everything is in place.

You can plan on how to get all your essential items, budgeting them and then you can use the rest of your money to buy some additional items that catch your fancy. Planning for a baby is in itself a huge step. There are a lot of things to place in order, planning out the money and keeping extra cash on hand so that you are well prepared for any medical or other associated expenditure.

As you buy for your baby, you will find that you can go for items that are cheap in some stores, you surely need to do a bit of research on it, get second-hand items from friends or members of your family, or those that had been used by your older child. So as you plan out the list, here are some suggestions on what to buy for your baby:

Pram or Push-Chair

This is a big buy item. You need a bit of market research on deciding what you should choose as a lot of varieties are available in the market today. The variations are not only in terms of designs and accessories, but also effective necessity. You need to go through reviews before planning on the perfect model or brand that would suit your requirement and lifestyle. For instance, prams are bulky often, but if you happen to reside on the top floor or have lesser space in your car, you would want a model that is compact and easy to manoeuvre.

Baby Car Seat

As per the driving rules, the baby should be safely seated in the back seat on a group 0/0+ car seat. Baby car seats are generally backward facing, though there are variants where the seat is positioned sideways across the back seat of the car. Then there are baby seats which can be clicked onto the base of the back seat and has a seatbelt. You can take a pick from these or choose the Isofix seat. There are Isofix tags on cars, check them out on whether your existing car has one, or you can get in touch with the sales service of your manufacturer.

Baby Cot

You need to have an independent sleeping arrangement for your little infant, until the baby is ready for a bed. The basket shaped cribs that are available for infants in the market are great options. But you need to make an intelligent choice as most cribs seem to turn smaller after a few months. That is, when the baby starts to grow out of them. This is why most parents choose the extendable ones, where the tiny crib can be transformed into a bigger one as the baby grows. Always make sure that the protective bars are safe from every aspect for the new born.

Nappies and Diapers

Nappies and diapers are essential items that you would require in abundance. Make sure that at least a pack is ready from day one itself. Later on as you get experienced with new motherhood, you can also choose from the reusable ones.

Changing Mat

As you get used to handling a baby, you will realise that the chances of spilling over the nappy over your carpet, bed sheet or sofa are pretty high. So a changing mat is essential so that such risks are reduced while you are at home, at a relative’s place or travelling. There are different fabrics to choose from and you will also require some sets of wipes to rub off the baby’s bottom alongside.

Baby Bodysuits

Baby clothes are available in plenty that makes the choice quite difficult. Build a your stock of about say five vests, some long sleeved body suits and some sleeping suits to start with. Those with poppers at the crotch are helpful for allowing a quick nappy change. Make sure that the fabric is very gentle on baby’s skin and does not cause a breakout of rashes. If required as per environment ensure that there are a few pairs of woollies for the little one.

Feeding Equipments

While breastfeeding your baby you might need to use breast pads, nipple creams, and cooling pads for sore nipples. If you plan to use breast pumps, make sure that you choose a perfect storage for the breast milk too. The options available are cold water sterilisers, microwave sterilisers and electric sterilisers.

After you have sorted out with the essential purchases for the baby you can turn to the host of fancy items like slings, baby monitors, baby towels, hooded bath suits and the list is practically endless. It is just about having a clear picture of probable requirements and getting them handy.
