Baby's Emotional Development in the Womb

Emotional Development in the Womb

Bonding with a baby during pregnancy is a wonderful experience. Read on to understand baby’s emotional development in order to bond with her better.

Bonding with unborn baby is the most amazing experience a mother can have during pregnancy. According to some new researches as well as some old wives tales the babies inside the womb can hear whatever is going outside there. Moreover, there is evidence that babies can share their mom’s emotions.
Every pregnancy is unique. Some of them feel instant connection with their unborn baby from as they start to move. But it would not be something that every mother wants to discuss. Others struggle to make a bond with their babies during pregnancy. There are many ways to bond with your unborn and gently rubbing the belly is usual way. Rubbing the belly during pregnancy is natural and best part is your baby can feel your touch. Beyond that there are quite other ways to bond with your unborn.

1. Babies Can Hear

By 23rd week of pregnancy, baby’s hearing will get developed enabling her to respond towards outside noises. As per parental researches it is believed that with sixth month of pregnancy unborn babies can hear what is going on outside. This is because by 28th week brain cortex of babies will get developed enough to think. Actually it is the one reason why a 28 weeks premature baby often survives. They get restless by hearing drum sounds and start kicking violently and can make them calm by light music.

2. Sound Can Stimulate Foetus

According to studies, 6 months-old unborn foetuses move their body with the rhythm of their mother’s speech. It is the most amazing way to bond with your little one so closely which teaches them to kick back. Means they learn to connect the noise with their sensation by kicking back to each sound.

3. Unborn Baby Can Sense

Prenatal psychologists claim that foetus make attitudes of their life before birth itself. So you may think do your thoughts and emotions affect your unborn baby. Researchers believe some kind of connection is there in between what you think and how your baby feels. In this way by 6 months you can connect with your baby, as hormones are associated with emotions which pass over placenta.

4. Long Term Effect of Mother’s Emotional Life

The most controversial area in parental research study is the relation between a mother’s emotion during pregnancy and child’s later personality. So is it like more anxious mother gives birth to more anxious baby. The studies related to maternal approaches towards emotional development of unborn shows it can. There is a tendency to give birth to an anxious baby by an anxious mother. Also shown that those moms who do not bond with their unborn during pregnancy to have a child with emotional problems. The mom’s who are less anxious with their pregnancy deliver a healthier child than others. But also one thing you must not forget is, during pregnancy all feel a little excited as well as a little anxious which will not harm your baby’s emotional development. Rather major stress and emotional disturbance throughout the pregnancy can make harder for you to bond with her leading to emotionally disturbed child.

Certainly a mom’s emotion may not pass through placenta but hormones do. The researches shown that mother who feels more stressed will produce plenty of stress hormones which are called catecholamine that affects one’s emotion.
So, responsibility of a mother to keep her baby healthy physically as well as emotionally is itself a great responsibility during pregnancy when already worried about keeping her safe from this confusing world. Take some measures to relax and spend quality time with your unborn.
