How to Buy Maternity Dresses

It is important to buy maternity dresses when you are pregnant as you may not fit in your old dresses once you enter your second trimester. If you buy your maternity dresses the right way, you can look gorgeous and stunning even with your baby bump. Read on to find tips on buying maternity dresses.

Pregnancy is one of the most exciting periods in any woman’s life. Though there are many health and practical difficulties associated, every woman loves to have a child of her own. Along with several other practical problems a pregnant woman finds that the dresses she used to wear either do not look good or she does not fit in some of them. Perhaps, she might feel uncomfortable wearing some of them too.

Today, where majority of the women are working, they want to look and feel good even during their pregnancy days. Various manufacturers and designers work and bring several designs and styles of maternity clothing. The best thing is that they keep in mind the different requirements and desires of different types of women.

How to Buy Maternity Dresses When Pregnant

There are few things, if kept in mind that will help you buy maternity clothes suitable for you and your lifestyle.

Hold Buying Maternity Clothes till Second Semester – It is obvious that you are excited to buy maternity clothes as soon as possible. Be practical and wait till your second trimester. Majority of the women do not show up until they enter the second semester. So, buying before that may be waste of time and money. Only if you are going to have multiples, you need to buy earlier.

Buy Basics – You should buy some basics like maternity pants and skirts sometime by the end of first trimester. It happens most often that there is a sudden growth in the belly and perhaps your usual pant does not fit one day. If you have the basics with you, you can easily mix and match to make different combinations. Some of the dresses provide support under the belly and this looks stylish as well as keep you comfortable throughout the day.

Choose Maternity Clothing Stores – Remember, when you have decided to buy maternity clothes, choose store that has a different section for maternity clothing. There are stores that sell only maternity clothes and that would be the best option for you. Just keep in mind that a good quality maternity dress will last all nine months and will make you look good as well.

Stretchable Clothing – Choose clothes that look good even when stretched keeping the fabric natural when you are buying maternity dresses.

Make Experiments – You can experiment by combining two different ethnic wears to give yourself a new style without compromising with the comfort level. Try on

  • Couple of chiken and linen kurtas in white or light colours. These go with any kind of churidars, salwars and even pants.
  • A plain skirt or dress
  • Cardigan or light jacket, if it is winter
  • A couple of empire cut dresses
  • Kaftans and poncho tops
  • Get a formal top for special occasion
  • Wrap around skirts in plain colours or traditional block prints
  • Add variety with colourful T-shirts and sleeveless tops
  • Tracksuits and pants in stretchable material for comfort

Buying maternity cloths when you are pregnant becomes important. Think ahead and be prepared specially at the time of season change. It is important to feel and look good. So, pay attention to accessories also. Buy some bangles, watches, beads, colourful dupattas, shawls and whatever you can imagine to add up to your style.

When you are pregnant, do not overlook your footwear. Choose the right one in which you feel comfortable and relaxed. Avoid wearing high heels. Above all, you should love and enjoy every bit of your pregnancy. Flaunt a new hairstyle and make experiments with your make-up too.
