What Should my Maternity Bag Consist

Have you started packing your maternity bags? Packing maternity bags is one of the important tasks during pregnancy. Packing maternity bags can also be one of the memorable moments for you during pregnancy. If it is your first pregnancy, and you do not know what you will need, you should read the following article.

It becomes quite difficult for the mother-to-be to decide what she should pack for the hospital in her maternity bag. This becomes all the more difficult when it is the first baby. However, although it seems quite hassling and confusing, it can be done with proper planning and preparation. There are few necessary things that you need to pack for you, your partner and your baby. It is better you make a checklist and make sure you go through it before leaving the house for the hospital.

The Checklist for You

  • Clothes for the labour ward and that can be robe, pajamas or any comfortable dress that you wear.
  • Cotton under garments
  • Items of personal hygiene that is used daily
  • Sanitary napkins, disposable panties and towels
  • Nursing bra – You can wear this while sleeping also in the beginning.
  • Nightshirt that has front open buttons so that you can feed the baby at night without any discomfort
  • Disposable diapers for your child
  • Baby clothes and other essential supplies
  • Camera – Do not forget to pack your camera, as you will miss the first shots of your baby
  • Glasses if you wear
  • Maternity dress to wear when you come back home
  • Walkman or iPod – You will need to put on some relaxing music
  • Birth plan
  • Documents for the hospital and insurance card
  • Massage oil
  • Slippers
  • Some empty bags – You will definitely bring more than you will take to the hospital. So take some empty bags with you.

For your Husband or Partner

  • Extra clothes, as he might have to stay there for a day or two.
  • Snack and other dry food items
  • Toiletry

These are the items that you should check and pack even before you actually have to leave for the hospital. Besides taking these items you should be prepared for anything like you may have to go for a c-section if circumstances demand and doctor decides. When you are actually leaving for the hospital you should remove all your jewellery, even the ring.

It is so strange feeling that you will become a mom of someone only some time after you go to the hospital. You might forget taking essential things with you or you might take some not useful items and find it a problem to keep them safe. So, you need to prepare everything beforehand. You have got plenty of time and today, with immense use of Internet you can have everything available online. If you prepare yourself for the day, you will feel relaxed and will not have to make someone rush and buy things every now and then.

You can confirm this with your doctor or anyone older women who is at home. If you have attended birth classes you will be taught everything there. You will also be prepared for the pain and how to ease it. If the hope is of natural birth, they will give you tips that will help you have less labour pain and the process of childbirth will be easy and fast.

It will be great if you have a friend and relative with you that understands and knows everything that you have packed with you. This is because anything that is asked by the nurses during labour should be given immediately. If in case anything goes missing he or she should be smart enough to get them as soon as possible.

I recently tried Morph maternity products and I must say that I am impressed. All their clothes are extremely comfortable and their sleep wear is superbly designed for during and post pregnancy with discrete openings for nursing. It is everything a woman could ask for.
