When planning a pregnancy, it is very important to have a healthy diet and to have fertility enhancing foods. Read on to know about fertility enhancing foods.

A healthy lifestyle is a great way to boost your fertility. You not only need to keep your body in shape but also condition it in a manner that it is at an optimum state to rear a child. Fertility depends on a balanced diet, regular exercise, abstinence from smoking and cigarettes. You also need to drink lots of water to acquire a healthy metabolism and flush out all the harmful toxins from the system. Apart from focusing on all these factors, it is important that you incorporate certain food in your daily diet so that your fertility stays in a superb condition for a prolonged period.

Given below is a list of such food, which ensures that your body receives all the essential nutrients that are required for a healthy body and pregnancy:

Cereals and Whole Grains

Whole wheat, brown rice, oats and quinoa belong to the category of complex carbohydrates that provide a good amount of energy that is so essential to trigger off the process of baby-making. The sugar from these foods gets released into the blood stream in a slow and even manner. Their high levels of vitamin B and E play a major role in cellular reproduction, maintaining the balance of hormones and most importantly, they help in the production of a healthy ova and sperm.

Dairy Products

It has been found in several researches that women who consume full fat dairy products suffer fertility issues very rarely compared to those who subsist on low fat or those who completely ignore dairy products. Full fat dairy products contain a high amount of calcium that is extremely vital for the development and maintenance of the bone, blood and nervous system.

Oily Fish

It is important to understand that oily fish do not add to your calories and are very useful for your system for the presence of the essential fatty acids that is the omega 3 and omega 6. They are very important as they can regulate the reproductive function and boost the quality of the sperms and their mobility. They also mainly improve the blood flow of the body. For people who do not eat fish, flaxseed oil is a great substitute.

Lean Red Meat

This is an excellent source for iron and can take care of anemic condition. Infertility in women resulting from ovulation disorders can be lessened with moderate consumption of lean red meat. It also boosts the performance of the red blood cells and is a great source of vitamin B12 which is highly important for the development and safeguarding of the entire nervous system.

Spinach

Leafy greens like spinach are an excellent source of iron and folic acid. Folic acid is extremely vital for the regular production of healthy eggs and effectively prevents the risky neural tube defects that are otherwise noticed in the initial stages of pregnancy. It also optimizes sperm production and boosts sperm quality.

Garlic

Garlic has selenium, a mineral that enhances male fertility and effectively prevents chromosome breakage which alleviates the risky of early miscarriages. Vitamin B6 in garlic regulates the hormones and helps in strengthening the immunity.

Oysters

The zinc present in oysters is a fertility nutrient that boosts the production of healthy sperm and egg. Alternately, this nutrient can be obtained from whole grains, nuts, pumpkin seeds, baked beans and eggs.

Honey

Since history, honey is used as a fertility booster due to its minerals and amino acid contents. It stimulates a healthy functioning of the ovary and nourishes the reproductive system.

Chillies

They enhance blood circulation and heighten the fertility booster endorphin hormone. The vitamins C in chillies aid the effective absorption of iron and also help in reducing the stress inducers.

Avocado

It contains the powerful antioxidant vitamin E and regulates the ovulation process along with the production of cervical mucus. It also helps in sperm mobility and is a good source of unsaturated fats that aid in maintaining a healthy hormonal balance.
