What is Fertility Massage?

What is Fertility Massage?

Fertility massage helps to increase the blood flow to reproductive organs. Fertility massage can effectively reduce the stress and thus aid in conception. Read on to know more about the benefits of fertility massage.

It is widely believed that modern day stress at work and home does play a crucial role in determining how fast and easily a woman can manage to conceive. Needless to say there is nothing in comparison to a soothing massage to reduce stress and help to relax. Fertility massage is a recent concept which is gaining immense popularity these days. This massage help to increase blood flow to the reproductive organs, ensures that the uterus is properly positioned, removes blockages and opens the pelvic and hip region.

There is much more to fertility massage than simply helping in relaxing the body. If taken for three to six months most fertility massages make use of acupressure technique and the principles of reflexology to stimulate the reproductive organs in the body.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology an ancient form of healing can actually treat many common pregnancy ailments and even help during delivery. The major reflexes of the reproductive system are those for the uterus, ovary and breast in the female, and the penis, testes and prostate in the male.

Reflexology basically works towards bringing the body into a state of balance. It is this balancing effect that makes this alternative therapy effective in the treatment of many hormonal conditions. It has been found to be particularly effective in kick-starting ovulation in women who may have encountered problems after using the combined contraceptive pill for a long time. It is also useful to regulate erratic menstrual cycles thereby boosting the chance of falling pregnant.

The stress and anxiety caused because of inability to conceive can be overwhelming for most women. Reflexology helps in making us feel more positive, relaxed and helps to cope with fertility issues in a more positive manner. However, it is important to bear in mind that Reflexology is not a miracle cure for fertility issues like blocked fallopian tubes or endometriosis.

Who Should Receive Fertility Massage?

  1. Couples who are consciously preparing to conceive and have a baby
  2. Couples who have been actively trying to conceive and need massage to support the reproduction process by ensuring proper flow of blood to the relevant organs
  3. Couples relying on assisted reproductive technologies like supplementations, intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in-vitro fertilization (IVF)
  4. Couples desirous of learning fertility massage techniques themselves. This is very useful to give frequent therapeutic sessions to each other and increase a sense of bonding between the partners.

What are the Benefits of Fertility Massage?

Have a quick look at the benefits of fertility massage.
  • Increases blood flow to the reproductive organs
  • Nourishes follicles with fresh blood supply and oxygen
  • Helps to break down scar tissue and adhesions
  • Helps to resolve blockages in the fallopian tubes
  • Re-aligns the uterus
  • Relieves stress and anxiety
  • Improves digestion and absorption of nutrients
  • Reduces inflammation caused because of PCOS, cysts or fibroids

Fertility massage is not an invasive technique. It does not pose any kind of danger to women trying to conceive since there are no adverse side effects. The one big challenge of going in for fertility massage is to identify qualified massage therapists. While there is not much evidence to support the benefits of fertility massage most doctors do not see anything wrong with the idea. When combined with a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet it can help in improving the odds of conceiving.

Fertility massage is used especially when the woman has to undergo assisted reproduction technique. Fertility massage is very good for stimulating reproductive organs. It is also given during pregnancy. However, any woman or pregnant woman should take massage only from certified and experienced people.
