Do You Keep a Scrapbook?

Do You Keep a Scrapbook?

It may surprise you to know this, but scrapbooks are not only child's play. They are in fact one of the most charming ways to preserve memories.

The best part about a scrapbook is that it gives you complete creative license over what you want to include in it.
Look back and try to remember your child's first step. It is likely that you may have photographed this moment and put a photograph in your album. You may have even written down the date at the back of the photograph, but albums often don't give you leeway to write much else.
Remember that memories need to be preserved. A beautiful memory book can provide you with joy for years to come. Every time you feel low, just browsing through a memory book can lift your mood and remind you of how wonderful life is. It helps you relive the great times you have had; a photograph does not always capture this. True, a photograph is worth a thousand words, but a few words added to a photograph makes it even more special.
Not just words and photographs, but even little objects can be stuck and included in your memory book.
So if you want to store memories of your child's birthday, consider using a scrapbook this time instead of a photo album. Begin the scrapbook by pasting the invitation card to the party. Then paste the party photographs and write a description of what each photograph signifies. If you have a photograph of all the children playing a game, you could jot down what the game was, who won it, what the prize was etc. This would make your 'album' that much richer.
Similarly, you may have noticed that when you come back from a holiday for a short and don't feel like throwing away play tickets, train passes, plane tickets, concert show tickets, little memorable knick knacks and so on, you preserve them for a month or so in a drawer, perhaps a year, and the next time you clean out your cupboard, you look at them wistfully one last time and then trash them. Instead, wouldn't it be so much nicer if you could just stick them into your scrapbook alongside the relevant photographs? I know a boy who had gone for a Ricky Martin concert in Miami, and subsequently made a scrapbook of the occasion. He preserved not only the photographs, but also the ticket of the show. On the ticket he took the signature of his friend who had taken him along for the concert. The boy had also managed to secure an autograph of the singer, which was stuck in the scrapbook alongside the singer's photograph. And finally, the boy crushed the can of Coke he bought at the concert, and included that too in the scrapbook! He included details of songs Ricky Martin had sung at the concert, printouts of lyrics of songs, and the end result was a scrapbook that everyone loves to go through again and again. Now wouldn't you rather your child spend some free time doing something creative and fun that will be cherished by him for years to come instead of spending time in front of the television? So get him started on a scrapbook!
