An 8 Year Old Schoolgoer's Development (7Years, 12-Month-Old)

Do you want to raise healthy and happy kids? Here we have shared some simple yet valuable tips that will help you raise your kids.
Being a parent of an 8-year-old kid is certainly not an easy task. In case you are concerned if she is growing up to a happy kid, you can read along and try some of the tips shared below.

1. Set Good Examples

You need to preach what you practice yourself. Let your children watch your own behaviours. Set good examples and she shall follow you with time. Children have the habit of emulating your emotions and thus you need to be careful.
If you think she is not listening to you, you can change your words and say the same thing in a different way. If you want her to respect you, you need to respect her feelings and expectations as well. Your child is a gift of God, on whom you should have faith.

2. Take Care of your Stress

Well, kids will be kids. You need to handle stress in your life well. If you think you are under too much of stress, read books, go to a spa or take a break from work.
She shall throw more tantrums, if you do not shower her with all the attention she richly deserves. So, even if you are busy, make time for her and encourage her to take up new challenges. You shall be able to grow up healthy and happy when you too are in good mental and physical health.

3. Have Faith on Her

Show her how much you care for her. If you see her bringing up a beautiful creation do appreciate her efforts. If you find her trying, yet failing to attain her desired results, offer your support and assistance.
Show her your faith on her abilities. This shall give her more confidence and she shall try to attain something different next time. The very fact that you believe her can bring a lot of difference.

4. Praise her Efforts

When you praise her efforts you are actually showing attention towards her activities. This shall help her feel very important and encourage her to move forward trying something new. She shall feel she has more control over her own life this way. You must always emphasize on the importance of putting in effort to grow and learn.
Again, it is important you are not praising her too much. Her only source of motivation must not be your praise, because otherwise she shall stop putting in her efforts when you stop praising. This will eventually make it difficult for her to perform when there is no one around.
Thus, it is better to praise her when you find her stuck in something that frustrates her. Your praise shall give her the strength to get over it.

5. Read along with Her

Rather than reading out to her, it is better if you read along with her. Show her pictures, ask her what she anticipate shall happen next and ask her to illustrate the pictures on the story.
This shall also be a great way to improve her attention, comprehension and reading skills. Reading skills shall be very helpful to improve her early literacy skills. It is also certainly the best way to make learning a fun process.

6. Eating Together Keeps a Family Together

Dinner is the time when the family unites and discusses about their day. Include your kid too and ask her about her day in school. This shall help her develop better table manners, healthy eating habits and a better self esteem as well. She too shall feel good when you ask about her day.
These were some parenting tips to aid the growth and development of your kid. Share with us your strategies too!
