If you are thinking of the cognitive changes, they shall be very rapid at this age. Her life so far was dominated by fantasies and now she is opening up to more logic and reasons. She is now getting closer to solving her problems independently. She knows how to get the right things done now and can be expected to complete a given task successfully. However, you may find her no longer interested in the structured games and shall love to venture out in the open. She shall also look forward to constant direction from you.
Now that she has learnt the fair use of language, she shall develop a fair grasp of ideas like tangible arenas, logical reasoning and so on.

Development of Ability to Think

Your kid shall now be able to manipulate symbolic things and have better control over symbolic play and written language. She shall be able to manipulate information mentally and also consider the point of views of others. She shall be able to guess what the other person is thinking independently and spontaneously. However, her cognitive skills shall take few more years to be completely developed. As her perspectives of things improve, she shall be able to look at things differently. You may find her taking different personas and engaging in role plays. Make sure you support her ability to think differently when she is participating in fun games.

Importance of Social Interactions

Just like any other developments, cognitive skill developments also need influence of some other factors. If your kid is interacting with someone highly knowledgeable, she shall be able to learn new things with time. Thus, it is highly important to develop chances of social interactions in school, at home or in the neighbourhoods.

Cognitive developments shall also mean ability to distinguish the reality from the fantasy. She shall also be able to describe the similarity between two things. Creative problem solving ability is another development that you can expect at this age. Your kid shall now benefit from better attention spans, memory and improved impulse control. You can now engage her in activities that include complex thinking, where she needs to demonstrate more resilience and patience. Improved brain functioning shall lead her to come up with more complex questions. You can assist her in versatile computer games or chess.
Meta cognition developments also begin at this age now. She shall now understand the importance of understanding and learning things better. She shall with time also develop the concept of permanence of objects.

  • She now has developed the concept of cause and effect and can predict the next incidences.
