Schoolgoer's Growth and Development (7Years, 2-Month-Old)

There are many factors affecting the normal growth and development of your kid 7 years, 2-month-old child. To know how you can help her in the process, continue reading.
You are more of a guide, reminding her of the do's and don’ts now. She needs to be under your supervision, even if she feels all grown up and in need of no assistance. She shall learn to take care of herself slowly and make the right choices now. Your 7 years, 2-month-old child may now show interest in a particular game or activity.

Behavioural Issues

Your kid is no longer a child and is also not an adolescent yet. You can shape her behaviour with the right balance of independence and routine.
If you are thinking of her eating patterns to change for the good now, it shall still take some more time. She shall want to skip her meals and rely on the snacks more. As a parent it is natural to feel worried about her not taking a balanced diet. However, rather than focusing on what she is taking every day, you can take a look at the bigger picture. Take a note of her eating habits over the week. Your 7 years, 2-month-old child needs vegetables, seasonal fruits, protein, whole grains, and foods low on fat and high in calcium.
Establishing a healthy eating pattern from the very young age shall help her develop the good habits fast. However, do not expect her to use the knife well yet. If you think you need to grow her interest in eating vegetables, you can encourage her to help you plant some trees in the garden. She shall love to pull the weeds or water your plants. She shall love the idea of growing vegetables and then enjoy them during meals.

Sleep Patterns

She needs around 12 hours sleep now. However, you cannot dictate her amount of sleep she needs and so leave it on her. Since she shall be busy with friends, school and new activities now, it shall be difficult for her to go to bed on time. However, you can help her manage time by cutting down the screen time. Developing healthy sleeping habits are very important to ensure sound growth and development of a kid of this age. You should be careful if your kid appears restless or shows signs of sleep deprivation.

Behavioural Changes

This is the time when your little one shall be dealing with plenty of challenges and setbacks while trying to attain something new. If you are thinking of disciplining your child, your focus must be on guiding her rather than concentrating on the consequences. It is very natural for her to explore her boundaries and limitations. Whining shall still continue to remain a behavioural issue at this age.

Chores for Schoolgoers

Your kid shall consider herself a “big girl” and shall want to be given more responsibility. She shall actually feel better when she can give back something to her family. You can assign some age appropriate activities like sorting clothes, feeding pets and bringing spoons from the kitchen. However, remember to keep a close watch on her while she is accomplishing her tasks.

Obsessions with Toys

Your kid may now develop obsession for collecting toys or cards. She may have already developed her love for a video game and may also mimic those characters at times.
These are all different aspects of growth and development mentioned above. You must not feel alarmed, if your kid lags behind in some areas of development. Not all kids are same and it shall be unfair to compare them all the time.
Just in case you are concerned, you can always bring it to the notice of your doctor. He shall diagnose your kid and let you know the proper treatments if necessary. What are the factors that affect the growth and development of kids?

How to handle the behavioural issues arising time and again? What type of parental guidance is needed by a 7 years, 2-month-old child? Discuss here.
