Are you eager to know what growth and development to expect this month? Well, you are in for many surprises. Read along to know about the different aspects of her growth and development of a 7years, 3-month-old child.
Your kid shall now exhibit her unending thirst for knowledge. Her curiosity will drive her to explore the world around her. She would come up with frequent questions in the excitement of knowing new things. Be prepared to answer questions like why the sky looks blue and where she arrived from. She shall also love to share her knowledge with her friends. She shall love to show off her newly acquired skills.
She shall take pride in the fact that she is aware of the ins and outs of her classroom. She shall feel proud upon accomplishing simple math problems and would want to share her knowledge with her caregivers, friends, teachers or parents. This is the time when you can expect a lot of cognitive developments.

Writing and Reading Skills

Her language development shall continue at a rapid pace now. With increase in her vocabulary, she shall also learn to read well now. Reading shall be a wonderful way to increase her vocabulary. Regular reading habits shall help increasing her speed, attain fluency and develop better expressions. These developments shall help her understand the complexities of the higher level text books.
With time you can expect her to write more interesting, complex and coherent stuffs. Reading habits must be developed at home. You can encourage reading habits by asking her to tell about her favourite characters or other aspects she loves.
While she may get comfortable with the habit of reading, she may still snuggle and want you to read out the chapters. Make sure you do read out with plenty of expressions to make it enjoyable for her.

Maths and Numbers

Your kid can accomplish simple math problems now. You can expect her to successfully subtract or make additions. She shall slowly learn values of three digit numbers and may start working on them mentally as well. She shall learn about shapes, fractions in and around her environment. You as a parent can use her math skills in everyday life. You can ask her about the shape of a house, or count the number of spoons in the kitchen.
Kids love playing computer games. You can give her simple math games to play on computer. This can be one of the most interesting and exciting way to help her love the subject. Learning when made fun shall encourage children to practice more. So, rather than pressuring her with all the tasks make sure she has fun while learning them.

Your Role as a Parent

As your kid is getting more and more aware of the society and people around her, here is what you can do to help her grow and develop well.
  • This is the age when her self esteem is very fragile and thus would look at you for frequent encouragement and positive feedbacks.
  • If she is engaged in the process of criticising herself, you should help her to not stress much. You should rather ask her to concentrate on the end results she gets.
  • It is very important that you patiently understand her emotions. Her moods and emotions shall be in an extremely volatile stage now and she certainly needs your help to deal with them.
  • This is the age when she shall be eager to know and learn new things. Take opportunity of this and offer her different puzzles, thinking games and bring up questions that demand attention.
  • Rather than plainly stating the right and the wrong, you can initiate discussions and strategically let her know the right and the wrong.
  • Offer her the scope to grow mentally and physically. Give her the space to think independently. You are always there behind to see if she is doing anything wrong.
Good luck moms!
