Your schoolgoer’s growth and development shall continue to amaze you further. Read along to know more what you can expect now.
The process of communication develops rapidly when a child is more than 6 years old. When it comes to language developments, every child is different. However, most of the children are known to follow a predictable pattern while developing their language and communication skills. Your child shall attain a more advanced level in a year. In case you feel your child is lagging behind in the area of language development, you can always consult your doctor and look for ways you can help her.
Here we shall take a look at the developments you can expect in the area of language and communication. Read along for more information:

Pronunciations

By this time your kid shall be able to pronounce almost every word of your native language. Doctors say that kids of this age can pronounce most of the consonants, diphthongs and vowels. However, she may still struggle to pronounce wh, g, s, z, and ch.

Numbers and Time

Your 6 years, 9-month-old has a fair concept of numbers and she shall slowly be grasping the simple time concepts with age. She now understands the difference between today, tomorrow and yesterday.

Speech Developments

She is now capable of speaking the complex sentences as well as the multiple clauses. You can now expect her to put across sentences that are grammatically correct. She shall now be able to speak clearly and communicate with lot more confidence. You may find her speaking with relative ease at different social gathering.

Narrating Stories

Along with listening to stories, she shall also love narrating some to you. You can show her pictures and ask her to illustrate them. She shall also be able to connect different events together and understand relationships now. You can expect her to establish connections between objects and different events. She may still need your help at times to write or read. However, she shall be good at memorising rhymes and songs. Some kids at this age also start reading on their own.

Your Role in her Language Development:

You must read books and narrate stories to her on a regular basis to help develop her communication skills. You can always ask her engaging questions regarding illustrations and stories. Ask her to make use of descriptive languages through games like ‘I Spy’ or looking at artworks and pictures.
Your kid can also whisper now and knows the proper use of intonation. She has started reading facial expressions and uses lot more expressions while delivering any news. However, errors while speaking are also very common at this age. Make sure you are not making a joke out of it. Laughing at her efforts shall only make her all the more nervous and frustrated.
You must always try to improve her self esteem and confidence. Your kid's speech development shall blossom as she moves from the kindergarten to a formal school. She shall use her language and expressions to communicate effectively with others. However, kids who are shy take longer to open up. You should be patient and supportive at every stage of her growth and development.
In case you feel concerned you have the professionals and speech therapists to help you and your child to communicate more effectively. Therapists divide language development into different categories that include listening, understanding what your kid says, understanding what she understands, developing the right words and pronouncing them right, fluency and lack of fluency, ability to communicate effectively in a social gathering and last but not the least comprehension of various concepts. Your therapist shall judge all these areas of developments of your kid and diagnose any underlying problems that may be hampering her speech.

How to notice language and speech developments during the 7 year of child’s growth and development? What can mothers do to ensure holistic growth and development of a child? Why is the role of parents important in the growth and development of children? Discuss here.
