My wife is 5 months pregnant. Since last week she is having acute pain in her legs (from hips to ankle), so much that she is becoming restless and not able to sleep. Although she is pure veg and very careful about her diet. Her daily intake includes orange juice, sugarcane juice and coconut water. Mostly she rests as fortunately her mother & sister are around to take care of her. Now when she visited the gynaec for consulting about her leg pains, the Dr said it's because of increase in weight (it is 67kg now) there are cramps in body and the critical thing to note is that it took 5 minutes to check the fetal heart beat- which is making my wife worried & in stress. To inform you, she had miscarriage last year at 2 & 1/2 months. So we were extra cautious this time. Dr is already giving her folic acid, calcium, iron, & tablet for hormonal growth, it is continuing from day 1. Please advise, is it normal to get fetal heart rate after 5 min?, which is worrying us a lot. Also Dr suggest to have test called "target fetal test", we shall get it done in another city which has such facilities, after few days.
Don't worry sometimes due to thick skin is it hard to detect the heart beat it is common in many women. Please ask your doctor (obstetrician) to suggest some remedies for reducing the dicomfort. If at any time your wife is experiencing any discomfort immediately report to the doctor.
