Baby's Growth and Development in Week 41 (Eleventh Month)

Learn about the growth milestones that babies achieve during the 41st week or on completion ofthe 10th month of their development.

Your baby has crossed the very first 10 months of her life and has stepped into week 41 – only a few weeks left for her 1st birthday. You must be getting more excited by the pace your lovely piece of joy is growing. First crawling, and now standing without support, soon she would be walking. Keep watching out.

Language Development in Week 41

Your baby is able to spill few meaningful words from her mouth. Her ability to reason and speak increases as her brain continues to develop. Always keep playing games like peek-a-boo and patty cake with your infant to polish her memory skills. Encourage the interest your baby possesses to learn language and also her understanding of two-way communication by being a good listener and answer to the sounds she is making.

Get Things You Want

Week 41 is more about how your baby communicates with you. She has understood that there is more ways to get things other than crying for them. So your baby will now try to point at things or try to reach out for something even if it is out of her reach – just to get your attention so that you help your baby get the things they want. This activity actually boosts both the motor skills and brain cells in your baby. If you do not think that the thing she wants is safe for her, firmly say “no” and do not give up to her cry followed by your refusal.

Other Brain Development

Your baby is able to start using tools for reaching their goals. Tools that you use every day, such as brooms, can openers, tooth brushes, etc. are actually hallmark of advanced intelligence. Your baby would try using them while mimicking you. Your child is getting smarter every week, and she would apply her brain to get things work out for her. For example, if your baby wants a toy sitting on the blanket, she would pull the blanket towards her rather than crawling over to get the toy. Yes, that is pretty smart!

Experiment with Volume

Your little one loves to experiment with volume now – she would like to make screeching nose or would scream with a very high pitch or make a shrieking or piercing noise from her vocal cords. This may be painful to your ear, but this is also a developmental phase. To make her screams and noises less painful, try to whisper near her ears, and she would lower down her voice in an attempt to listen to you or just to mimic you.

Wear More than Eat

In week 41, you would find your kid wearing more food than eating. It can be frustrating to you, but remember, you baby must learn interacting with the environment in her own way, and playing with food allows her to do that – your baby gets to learn about the temperature of food, textures, and also the law of gravity when the food falls down instead of hanging up to the ceiling. This is just another growing phase and you should encourage your baby’s behaviour by positively reinforcing it with laughter. Wait for few more weeks before you start teaching your baby about table manners.
Finally, you would also find your baby focusing on the same objects often. Suppose it is bedtime and you are reading a book to your baby, she would like you to read the same book and stare at the same page looking at the same images and hearing the same words over and over – this makes your kid feel comfortable and also builds her self-esteem. Never discourage it though you can always try slipping in a new story every once in a while.

What kind of growth milestones do babies achieve during 41st week of their development? How to boost baby’s development during the 10th month of their development? Discuss here.
