Baby's Development in Week 45 (Twelfth Month)

Read on to learn more about the baby’s development by the 45th week of their development.

It is week 45 – and your baby wants to do things on her own now. She prefers to eat by her own – she would try to grab the spoon and feed herself. You must cheer your baby for such an incredible act of independence and keep boosting her even though she spills some foods on her clothes or on the tray or surrounding floor. At least she deserves a reward for building such self-esteem and self-image.

Five Meaningful Words

By week 45, your baby’s words have become clearer and you may be able to hear 5 distinct words from your baby that clearly means something to both you and her. Not only that her vocabulary skill is getting better, but now your baby understands you even better. Always acknowledge and reward for what she speaks or when she understands you and respond to you – this surely boosts your baby’s interest of learning more and responding more often.

Brain Development in Week 45

Few weeks ago, your child has already got the clear idea of permanence of objects – objects continue to exist even if they are out of sight and also an object that is partly covered exists entirely under the cover. Then what is new now? Now, your baby has got smarter and she has started to understand the shape of the object from the cover covering it. So, if you hide behind a curtain while playing hide and seek with your kid, she can easily find you now.

First Steps Now

If your kid is not walking independently yet, you need to keep on boosting her with a lot of chances to move without help by not carrying her too often or not picking her up often. Remove any dangers from the way and arrange furniture in such a way that your tentative walker has handholds to take support from all along her path. A stable push toy with a secure, wide base can help your kid practice her walking too.

Weaning Time

Though most pediatricians suggest weaning your baby from the bottle when she is 12 months old, but you can gradually start the process earlier so that your baby gets prepared for what is coming. Try putting less breast milk in her bottle or breastfeedher less often and increase the amount of breast milk in the cup. Offer her water only in the bottle and change breast milk only to the cup gradually. Try to use cups of bright and changing colors that may amuse your baby and make the weaning process easier.

A Little Too Adamant

Your baby has few items like her bottle that is very attached to her. So, it would be difficult to make your infant apart from her attached item. You would find your baby has got all stubborn in week 45 and is not ready to give up her bottle. This will involve more crying and fighting, but you need to be peaceful and hold patience, and deal with your baby smartly and gradually. Do not force or rush into weaning – both of you and your baby should take good time before weaning actually happens.

Your baby’s teeth are prone to break with all the unexpected falling your baby undergoes through. She could even chip a baby tooth at some point. Though you really do not need to concern about this, but you need to be careful if there are any sharp edges and bleeding gums, then you may have to see a dentist, as injury to the nerve can cause permanent damage to the baby’s adult teeth in future.

What kind of developments takes place in a baby during the 45th week of her development? How to boost baby’s development? Discuss here.
