Read more about baby’s growth and development during the 37th week of her development.Another fun-filled week with your baby – and plenty to come, where you see remarkable developmental changes in your baby. Week 37 is packed with fear of strangers, being inquisitive, picking things with only two fingers, and many more. Read this article for more knowledge about how your infant develops in this week.
Fear of Strangers
This is the week when you have to actually make your visitors aware not to take it personally if your kid bursts into tears when they try to come near her even if they have visited her a month ago. It is the phase when your baby acts smart – kids recognize mom and dad well by now who can provide them anything they want like toys and food, but the stranger may not give them the same, so kids usually express fear of strangers now. Sometimes, they can also behave the same with people once they were comfortable with, for example, aunts and uncles. This phase passes soon – do not force them to go to strangers; it is best when they become comfortable on their own time.
How Is Your Baby’s Brain at Week 37?
This week, a new mental developmental shift occurs about permanence of objects – your baby starts understanding now that objects exist even if they are out of sight. Play games related to disappearance – this will go well with your child’s intellectual agenda. For example, when you completely cover a toy with a towel, your baby can remove the towel and reveal the toy. Keep boosting your
child’s brain by keeping her interested in disappearance games and playing with her together over and over again. These games not only give your child a clear idea about the permanence of objects, but also build your relationship with her.
Use Two Fingers to Pick Objects
Your
baby’s motor skill has become finer now. Week 37 can surprise you when you see your baby picking up light-weight objects around the house using only thumb and forefinger. Your infant now has a good hold of everything – from toys to food. This will increase your baby’s confidence and will offer her sense of accomplishment. Also, this is the time your baby will show preference of one hand over the other. The sense of being right-handed or left-handed begins now.
Language Progression
Enough of monosyllable words – your baby will soon promote her monosyllable speech to disyllable ones, for example, instead of “daâ€, “ma†etc., he or she would start saying words like “dadaâ€, “mamaâ€, etc. The beautiful thing is that when your baby would say “mamaâ€, she would relate to you only – a sign that shows you are the closest person in her life.
Response to New Environment
At this week, your baby is a little cranky when it comes to going to a new place. It is better that you carry her toys along with her to soothe her later. Babies start feeling insecure at new places, and feel the best at their home now. So they may get irritated if you are attending a family party with them – but it is normal, and this phase passes soon.
Be Careful
Infants are usually more curious at this time than before. They begin to be inquisitive about the world around them. They want to know how things work, so they tend to reach out to almost everything they see. This curiosity can be dangerous sometimes of you have not
baby-proofed your house yet. All powerpoints should be covered, all cords should be tucked away, and at the same time, you have to keep hazardous items that can
choke infants away from your baby’s reach– you never know when your lovelet picks something and put inside his or her mouth; it can take only seconds for your baby to get into trouble.
