Are you aware of the growth milestones that are expected in the ninth month or in the 33 week of a baby’s development? Read more about it.Last year this time you were approximately 21 weeks pregnant! How does that make you feel? It must surprise you that this little baby who is playing in front of you right now was just a tiny being in your tummy a year back! It is surprising how time flies, isn't it? Now you have a baby who's completed 33 weeks with you. And you know that these 33 weeks have been the best weeks of your life. Well, hold your breath, the best is yet to come.
Have you been keeping a track of your baby's growth and development all these weeks? After all, that is the only thing that continually bothers a parent. This week also, you're going to notice a few new developments.
Have You Been Saying No too Often?
Well, your baby is growing isn't she? Which means the
language centre in her
brain is growing as well. She is learning how to understand and react to the things you say. You might think that the innocent look on her face means she is probably not understanding a word you say, but you couldn't be more wrong. Now it is a known fact that if she does something wrong, you're going to correct her and you're likely to use the simple word "no". If you've been repeating it too often, chances are, she knows what it means. It is simple enough for her to understand, which is why you need to stick to it when she does something she isn't supposed to. That way, she'll learn the difference between right and wrong. But as every parent knows, babies tend to have a mind of their own!
A Few Adjustments
Now that your baby is growing with each passing day, you need to make a few adjustments. Take the crib, for example. Remember, your baby is becoming more and more adventurous, she might be trying to climb over the railings of the crib. If the
crib is too high, she might fall and hurt herself. That is why you need to adjust the height of the crib. Also, earlier keeping toys and other stuff in her crib was no big deal! She was too small back then. But now these apparently harmless items might act as a stepper for your baby to climb out of her crib. Try to keep it as clean and clutter free as possible. Your baby must have started teething by now, it would be better to take precautions so that she doesn't use the wrong items for teething.
Your Baby Simply Loves Getting Dirty!
While this might appear really funny and comical, it is no doubt true. As your baby learns more and more things daily, she loves to explore them and see things for herself. That means, she would love to get her hands on just about anything. She has also become more experimental when it comes to playing and that is why you need to have a separate set of play clothes. If you've got a garden, your baby is sure to love playing there. While playing outdoors is great for your baby, it also means that she'll get dirt all over her clothes and hands. Well, as long as she doesn't try to eat the dirt (which most babies are prone to do) she should be just fine. All you have to do is clean her at regular intervals and change her out of her muddy and dirty clothes!
Brain Development at This Stage
At 33 weeks, your baby's brain is like a little sponge. It absorbs and processes everything she sees and experiences. You must remember that whatever she sees and does now, will affect her personality and mental health in the long run. She is extremely keen to learn new things now. If she sees something that catches her eye, which refers to all things bright, colourful and shiny, she is likely to grab it. If you place an electronic device in front of her, chances are she will go gaga over the numerous colourful buttons and press each one of them. Well, keeping aside the fact that your device is likely to be ruined, her excitement and reaction will make it worth your while.
Summing Up the Major Developments
At this age, your baby has become more or less comfortable with her environment, your home. After all, she has spent the last 8 months exploring each aspect of it. She feels pretty comfortable moving about, and uses different ways to do so -
crawling, cruising, scooting, shimmying, you name it! In fact she could be standing up without a support, and might even try to walk unassisted now. You might even notice that she is jabbering a bit too much! While it might get on your nerves, it really is a good sign!
She is doing pretty well, isn't she? And she is growing up faster than you'd like, but you're really proud of your little bundle of joy, aren't you! So now you have a better idea of where your baby stands as far as development and growth stands.
