Find about the growth milestones that a baby may achieve during the 30th week or the eight month of her development. Now that your baby is 30 weeks old, it can be called quite a milestone, can’t it be? Especially when you look back on this time last year, you were about 18 weeks pregnant, and almost halfway through your pregnancy. It never hurts to pause, look around and assess your current situation. You're doing quite well, aren't you? You're a mom to an amazing 8 months old baby, you have the perfect family and you finally have everything you wished for. But it's never wise to get ahead of yourself. Your baby is still completely dependent on you, which means every step you take has an effect on her.
It is always better to keep a tab on her milestones and her activities. You could keep a track on her growth, her mental and cognitive skills which are developing day by day.
Your baby's communication and motor skills are improving with every passing day. Playing with her can be a regarding and fun experience for both of you. All babies love to play peek a boo, don't they? Well, now your baby could be the one hiding her face and laughing at your reactions and not the other way around. Moreover, she is now accustomed to some of the games you play with her, and is likely to play along. To keep her interested, you could introduce a new game every now and then. Make sure the games you play with her compel her to utilize her thinking powers. That would make the experiences both a great deal of fun, and educational too!
A Weird Sensation While Breastfeeding?
This is something most moms feel, but often find it embarrassing to talk about. You might have noticed an unusual feeling while breastfeeding your baby. Well, there's no need to worry. Your baby has started showing teeth, hasn't she? And only recently has she learnt how to use his teeth while chewing and biting. Now while feeding, a slight nibble isn't uncommon. The first few times, you might choose to ignore it, because let's face it, she's your little darling. But if it increases, you need to take a few precautionary measures. As soon as you feel the nibble, detach your baby from your breast, and look at her straight in the eye and say that "biting is wrong", or that "That hurt me". Keep it simple so that she understands it, but make sure that you're firm while speaking. That should do the trick.
Infections are Common at This Stage
Ear infection is something that is pretty common in babies this age. If your baby has been crying incessantly for the past few days, a bad ear infection may be the reason. Another symptom of ear infection would be your baby pulling or hitting her ear. That would be her way of trying to communicate her pain. Ear infections are enough to make a happy and jovial baby cranky and irritable. There might be several reasons behind your baby's ear infection. It could be caused by infection causing bacteria, and even teething! That might be surprising to you, but paediatricians have proven it to be true. If you suspect an ear infection, you need to take your baby to her doctor immediately. There are numerous medicines that you can use to get rid of this annoying infection.
Your Baby's Emotional Development
At 30 weeks, you can expect to see a solid emotional attachment between your baby and those around her. In the earlier months, she was likely to treat everyone in the same way. But now that she is able to recognize and relate to different individuals, her treatment towards others is changing. For example, she is now likely to cry and laugh with you. Your emotions and the way you demonstrate them have an effect on her. If she starts crying when you're upset, before you start pitying her, and start trying to comfort her, you need to be proud and relieved. Because this is the first time your baby is showing some empathy, and that is the most important emotional development in your baby at his age.
Strong Baby, Healthy Baby
Well, what do you expect? She is 30 weeks old, she is obviously going to be growing stronger by the day. And you will be able to see the signs. Earlier, you wouldn't have problems making her do something she didn't want to. But now, she knows how to resist, and she knows how to oppose you if you force her to do something she doesn't like. Also, straightening her back is an easy task for her now- a new development! But while this is good news, it also means you need to be on the watch and keep an eye on her at all times. Babies might end up hurting themselves, and it is your job to make sure she doesn't.
Quite a few developments this week, isn't it? Well, your baby is growing, after all. New changes are bound to come over her every day; and you will be faced with numerous challenges, but with patience and by keeping your cool, you're likely to pass all tests with flying colours.
