Baby's Growth and Development in Week 27 (Seventh Month)

It is necessary to understand the growth milestones that babies may achieve during a particular phase. Find about baby’s growth and development during the 27th week or 7th month.

Now that you have completed six and a half months with your darling baby, you must be feeling a sense of accomplishment and pride. After all, the happy, healthy and laughing baby you see in front of you is partly your work, isn't it? You have put in long hours and have made her what she is. You have dedicated yourself completely to her and have tried to give her everything she deserves. At this stage, she is not as dependent on you as she was previously. She is capable of moving about on her own, and chances are, you have found her in corners of your house you didn't know even existed.

Changing Food Habits...

At 27 weeks, your baby is perfectly capable of consuming and digesting solids. There is no point in giving her liquid-like food anymore. The sooner you start introducing solid foods, the better. You need to move up her food items to stage 3 baby foods. Include chunkier and more fibrous food items in her diet. You can include some beef and chicken as well. Whatever you plan to include, make sure doesn’t pose a choking hazard. And really, it is okay to give her the stuff she likes!

Is Your Baby Crying All The Time?

Yes, we all know it is hard to resist picking your baby up when your sweetheart is crying in the other room. But you really shouldn't let your emotions overpower you. Before picking her up, find out what's bothering her. Is she in pain? If so, where does it hurt? Babies need comfort, we all do! If you see your child has been crying incessantly for a while, you should pick her up and try to distract her mind. As you'll find out soon enough, it is extremely easy to divert their attention.

Milestones This Week

When it comes to milestones this week, you won't find too much of an improvement from last week. She should be crawling by now, and if she hadn't started previously, she is likely to do so this week. She could be even cruising by now, or able to sit properly. And to your surprise and amazement, you might even see your baby trying to walk about. But different babies reach these milestones at different ages. Just because your baby isn't walking yet, but the seven month old next door is, don't be alarmed. However, if you have concerns and want to be sure when it comes to your baby, you could consult your doctor. She would be able to assess your baby's development and put all worries to rest.

Spending Time with Your Baby

Earlier, when your baby was slightly younger, you might have thought playing with her was completely useless. Especially, since she seemed to get distracted fairly easily, and was likely to get attracted to bright and shiny things. But now, playing with her can be quite fun. It is easy to keep her engaged now and spending time with her can be quite rewarding for both of you. Get hold of attractive and colourful toys which are both fun and educational. That is sure to get her attention. She is perfectly capable of communicating with you. At this stage, she knows what she wants and how to communicate that to you. She might not be able to speak, but who said you need words to communicate?

Suitable Toys for Her

At this stage, you need to get her toys that are both educational and grab her attention. You could get hold of certain physical development toys for her. Get her one of those toys with wheels. That will enhance her motor skills to a great extent. Also, her hand eye coordination will benefit from it.
Well, now you have a clear idea of how to handle your 27 weeks old baby. Don't worry if your baby is slightly different from others, or is taking more time than others. As long as your baby is happy, there is nothing more that matters.

How to boost baby’s growth and development during 7th month? What kind of growth milestones do babies achieve during the 27th week of their development? Discuss here.
