Learn about the developmental milestones and find tips for boosting a baby’s development during 8th month. Now that you have completed 32 weeks with your little one, you must be at the top of the world. You've just completed 8 months with her, and that is a milestone in itself, isn't it? In these 8 months, both you and your bundle of joy have learnt a lot, and have developed and grown a lot. The little baby you see playing in front of you right now, was just a tiny human week in your tummy exactly a year back. And now she's probably trying to master the art of walking! Who would have thought? Every day you will come to know new things about your baby, some which might shock you and some which might make you chuckle with joy. But whatever it is, your baby is always your first priority, isn't it?
That is why you need to maintain a record of all her developments, all the new changes you notice and the milestones she reaches and when she reaches them. This week, you will be noticing the following changes.
That is often a question that haunts the minds of parents. At this stage, it might be easy to tell what your baby is more inclined towards. You could keep an eye out for a few tell tale signs, like which hand your baby uses to grab the spoon, or pick up the ball. If she prefers to use the right hand while picking up her toy, then she is likely to be right handed and vice versa. However, none of this has been scientifically proven and is mere speculation. Sometimes babies use both hands, what are you supposed to do then? Nothing! Just wait and watch. Some parents make a grave error by trying to control this aspect. They might force their child to use one particular hand, usually the right one, so as to make the right hand the dominant hand. But it doesn't work that way, and you could end up doing more harm than good.
How Are They Affected By Anger?
If you thought raising your voice in front of your baby was fine because she "doesn't understand anything", you couldn't be more wrong. Babies have a strong sense of perception when it comes to sensing pain, fear, joy and most of all anger. At this stage, it would be advisable to keep the arguments at home to a minimum. However, we all know that is often impossible. If you're having an argument with your spouse, do it in the other room, or in low voices after the baby is asleep. A disturbed environment at home can hamper the baby's emotional development, causing her to lock herself up in a shell or making her less empathetic. It may also bring about certain negative physical problems in the baby.
Scrumptious Finger Foods!
Have you started giving your baby finger food? No? Well then, what are you waiting for? Talk to your baby’s pediatrician and head to the market now and get your pack of Cheerios or cereals today. You could get it in fruit flavour, as that has been seen to stimulate a baby's taste buds. There are tons of finger foods you can try out. It would be wiser to go for finger foods that are healthy, but at the same time delicious. Babies love crackers, you could hand her one every now and then. Who doesn't love cookies, babies sure do! You could even cut up small pieces of fruit, and give it to her on a plate. The best part about finger food is that she can feed herself, and that makes it a fabulous experience for the both of you. You should make sure that these finger foods do not pose any choking hazard.
Watch What He Eats!
At 32 weeks, your baby is clever enough to start eating more or less everything; yes, including the items you do not want her to. But you have to keep in mind that nothing is really out of her reach now, with her being able to crawl and cruise around. So, if she sees a chunk of food lying on the ground, she is sure to pick it up and put it straight in her mouth. That can be quite unhygienic, especially if you have a pet in the house. Make sure you pick up whatever is lying on the floor, and try to keep it clean. Because let's face it, more often than not, a baby is likely to put things in her mouth even if she's not hungry.
Making Your Home Safe for the Baby
Your baby is growing up, which means you need to make sure that she doesn't hurt herself in any way. You need to get cabinet locks and latches on all the drawers, cabinets and shelves which are within her reach in the house. Babies have a tendency to open the fridge too, you need to put a latch on that as well. Kitchens are dangerous places for kids. That means you need to buy burner covers and stove guards immediately. That will make sure that your baby doesn't burn herself. To make sure that your baby is unable to open any doors, get hold of a door knob cover today.Well, now you have a good idea about what to do with your baby, and how to deal with the situations that arise every day. With this information to back you up, you're ready to deal with all kinds of hindrances and obstacles. Is it alright to give finger foods to 8 months old baby?
