Make yourself aware of the growth milestones that your baby may achieve by 12th week of her development. Read on.
Voila! Your baby is already 3 months old! This is the time when your baby’s napping time and feeding demand changes – she will undergo a growth spurt now. You might have thought that now you are in a perfect feed-and-sleep routine for your baby – but you maybe dreaming as everything changes now. Your baby’s sleep breaks frequently as she feels hungry often now – in almost every 2 hours in the day. Your breastmilk will step-up within few days and you will be back on track again soon.
By now, your baby can hear you well, and understand voice and accents. Babies develop an ear for the modulation of voice and notes and chords, so keep reading books to them using different pitches of voice and varying accents. Also, sing songs to them to make the connection between you and your baby more lively and interesting. There are plenty of good books to read from – try doing different actions when your baby loses interest while you are reading. Try to keep her engaged – reading to babies always nourishes their growing brain.
How Are Your Baby’s Eyes?
By 12 weeks, your baby’s eyes have become more functional. It can smoothly track moving objects, understand the depth of objects, and has a better 3D vision. Your baby will not be squinting anymore as she used to do before to focus hard on object, as now she can focus much easily.
Other Noticeable Development
Your baby laughs out loud now. She is even able to hold some of her weight in her legs, so you can pull your cute piece of joy up to a supported standing posture. Though, you must be careful and be around your infant as she still needs more head and neck support to move farther. Their motor skills have developed better, so you can give your baby a rattling toy that she can hold and can shake it by her own. Toys that reward motion and sound will be great for your kids now, as they will encourage them to roll over to discover where the sound comes from. Also, during this time, your baby will experience diaper rash often, as there is a need to change diapers frequently, so try to keep the diaper zone soft and dry and change diapers often to make your baby feel great all the time.
Flathead
By 12 weeks, babies may develop a flat spot on their head, because of sleeping in the same position. The soft skull of babies can develop a flat spot as a result of pressing against the mattress every night. The flat area will round out in few weeks as babies start crawling and sitting up. Continue allowing your baby to enjoy her tummy time to make stronger necks and allow your baby to move her head around more during sleep – both of these would help in rounding out flathead sooner.
Worried About Hairloss?
Baby baldness can be seen by 12 weeks, but it is not a serious health problem. Babies rub the same part of the head against the mattress in the same position, which may cause hair tension and hair loss. Also, hormone levels drop in the first 3 months that may cause some hairloss. There is nothing to worry as hair regrows as soon as your baby comes out from old habits and gets into some new, exciting habits.
Finally, at 12 weeks, you must not forget to take your little cute baby to the doctor for her second round of immunization. The 5-in-1 injection which protects against tetanus, diphtheria, polio, whooping cough (pertussis), and Hib (hemophilus influenza type B) is due now. It may not be available everywhere so follow your doctor’s advice when it comes to vaccinating your baby. Once it is done, keep enjoying with your baby while you see her grow jovially. What kind of developments can be observed in a 12th weeks or a 3 months old baby? What kinds of vaccinations are given to a baby by completion of 3 months? Discuss here.
