Newborn's Development in the Tenth Week

Learn about the growth milestones that your baby may attain in the tenth of her development.

Finally your baby has made it to the tenth week of her life! Through the struggles, discomfort, little joys and surprises, your baby has now fit into your day-to-day life comfortably. They still have a lot to learn and adapt to, but now they have a perfect schedule and routine to follow. They know that you are the most important person in her life and have started to love and accept you as her own. With the incoming of the tenth week, there are certain new things that you will see in your baby.

Your Baby Will Sleep Less During the Day

Now that your baby has settled into the pattern of sleeping throughout the night in the past week, with the dawn of the tenth week, you will see that your baby sleeps lesser and lesser during the day. They will be energetic, alert and highly active throughout the day. They have finally started to follow everyone else’s pattern of sleep. Though they still need time to adapt to it properly, they will sleep for very short spiels during the day, until finally they just sleep in the afternoon and at night.

Your Baby Will Start to Love Bottle Feeding

By the time the tenth week arrives, your baby will have accepted feeding from the bottle. If you have successfully interspersed bottle feeding and breastfeeding for the past few weeks, then you will see that your baby will now start liking the idea of bottle feeding more than breastfeeding. Also, this makes it easier for other people to feed your baby when you are not around. So now that your baby has grown accustomed to the bottle feeding, you can happily go back to work once again! Opt for bottle feeding as the last option. Before that spoon feeding can be tried using a vati and a spoon.

Your Baby Will Start Making New Sounds

Besides all the crying and sounds of discomfort, in this week, your baby will start making other cooing noises as well. Their salivary glands will be working overtime with all the raspberries that they blow. If you have been talking to them a lot then it might so happen that your baby will try to repeat those words. Though they cannot say the words properly, you will hear your baby making different kinds of sounds that ultimately sound like gibberish but are an improvement from the cooing sounds that they would otherwise make earlier.

Your Baby Will Love to Splash

Now that your baby is slowly mastering the art of perfect hand and eye coordination, they will make use of their hands and feet whenever they are given the slightest chance to do so. Therefore, once your baby steps into the tenth week, you will see that splashing in the bathtub will become a favourite activity for them. The moment you lower them onto the filled bath tub, you will see that they jump and splash water everywhere around them. This is how they get accustomed to the useful tools called “hands” and “feet”. So happy splashing!

Your Baby Will Start Balancing Her on Her Feet

By the tenth week of your baby’s life you will be happy to find that once you make them stand they will try to balance themselves on their feet. You will find that they will try to stand straight with intense concentration. This is a mark that your little angel is actually growing up.
Your baby is progressing happily towards her three months mark. Help her learn properly and take care of her every need. Nothing is better than a happy and smiling baby for a mother like you!

What kind of developments can be expected in the tenth week of a baby’s development? What are the ways to aid a ten weeks old baby’s development? Discuss here.
