How to find Peace

A little peace of mind seems hard to obtain in our daily schedule. Here are some amazing ways to find inner peace.

Reema is studying engineering. Her writing table has piles of assignments which she has to complete. She is worried about her pending term work and grades. Meanwhile she gets a text message from a friend that reminds her about project work they have to submit. Submissions have made her life topsy-turvy and deadlines have completely stressed her out. Sometimes she feels like screaming loudly, 'give me a break'.

Our busy lives hardly give us time for ourselves. When was the last time you enjoyed your favourite book while lying on your bed? Most of us get time to read books while commuting. Reading the newspaper is the task to complete when our cars get stuck in traffic. Have we forgotten to live a calm and composed life? Try finding peace with some simple techniques.

1. Practice Meditation

Peace does not exist in the outside world, it dwells within our souls. Meditation has the power to calm down your mind completely. Regular practice of meditation is highly beneficial to cope up with stress. Meditation is like a magic spell which takes you to some other world where there is no stress and everything is peaceful. Make use of meditation music while meditating and experience tranquility and peace of mind.

2. Listen to Music

Music has the power to uplift your moods. Some great and soothing music can immediately pull you out of the depression. No matter whether you are listening to Indian classical music or jazz, music that will soothe your mind and cheer up your mood is worth listening to. Finding peace becomes easy by listening to good music.

3. Control Your Anger

A famous quote goes 'For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind.' controlling your anger will help to obtain peace of mind. Anger management is the skill you have to learn in order to experience peace. It is okay to be emotional, but you need to be practical too. Manage your anger and enjoy a peaceful life.

4. Write a Diary

Jotting down your emotions on a piece of paper is a way to release your stress. Writing your emotions will make you understand them better. Write down good and bad experiences you had and how you feel about them. Slowly you will learn to tackle bitter situations in life that destroy your inner peace. Find a solution for a particular problem rather than thinking why it happened to me.

5. Spend Time with Nature

What is the difference between gulping down a cold drink and sipping lemonade? That is the difference between concrete jungle and green meadows. We have forgotten the smell of fresh air as we are used to pollution in the cities. Take a break from your work or studies and go for a trek. A trail by a riverside is an amazing stress buster and thus fabulous way to find peace. Once in a year spend your time amidst trees and flowers away from the daily chaos.

6. Read Books You Like

Instead of bringing work at home, spend your Sunday afternoons reading your favorite books. There is nothing as pleasing as reading a book of your favorite author while comfortably resting under a warm blanket. Pick up some great titles that you find interesting from a local book stall and enjoy each and every page. Peace is in things that we really enjoy doing.

7. Pray

Prayer and mantras are secrets to find peace of mind. For some people chanting the name of god is a way to find peace. Chanting mantras, like the Gayatri Mantra can help you find peace. Prayers have tremendous power to let you acquire peace. Thus writer John Wooden has quoted, "There are many things that are essential to arriving at true peace of mind, and one of the most important is faith, which cannot be acquired without prayer."

8. Practice Breathing Exercise

You must practice breathing exercise when you are feeling stressed or anxious. Practising breathing exercise for 10 minutes can surely help you to feel calm and easy. Observe your breath when you inhale or exhale.

9. Focus on What is Important

Make a list of things that are very important for you. You must know your priorities and goals. Focusing on your priorities and accomplishing little goals in life  will definitely help you to find real peace. The more you focus on your priorities and goals, the less you will have to deal with problems and bitterness in life. To be specific, your most important priority should be your health, work and the happiness of your family. So, keep yourself healthy and happy and take care of the happiness of your family.

10. Do Little Things That Make Others Happy

It is very important to do little things that can make others happy. You will find real peace and happiness when you will do something that can bring happiness in the life of others. Help your neighbours and friends, try to bring smiles on the faces of others, entertain children and do your bit to spread happiness.

11. Follow Hobbies

When you spend time following hobbies, you will feel refreshed and happy. Spending time doing something that you really like can surely help you feel at peace. If you like any indoor or outdoor sport indulge in it with your friends or family members.

12. Accept the Reality and Let Go

Learning to let go is the greatest way to find peace in life. If something bad or bitter that happened in the past is bothering you, it is better that you accept what happened and move on. There is nothing that you can do about what happened in the past. So, you must focus on your present and work towards having a better future for yourself and your family. Remember, whatever happens, happens for the good. Learn from the mistakes, take things positively, create good thoughts and always love yourself. It is very important to be practical rather than crying over the spoiled milk.

13. Communicate

Communicating can really help to solve the problems. If you are unable to solve any kind of problem, you must communicate it to your near and dear ones. While communicating your problem, do not beat around the bush. Try to communicate what exactly is bugging you. Don't be confused and emotional. Be specific about your issues. Your loved ones can surely help you to deal with the problem. Make sure that you do not create a commotion or be angry. Share your problem only with people you trust.

14. Know Your Limits

To remain peaceful forever, you must know your limits. Follow discipline and be well behaved. Never over exaggerate things. Protect yourself and the boundaries of your family. Live and let live. Make sure that no one is facing problems because of you. If anyone does, try to nip the problem in the bud before it is too late. 

15. Take a Pause

If you are facing a conflict or issues with someone, you need to pause for sometime. Pausing will help you think with a calm mind and find right solutions to find peace.

16. Forget and Forgive

Following the principle - ‘Forget and Forgive’ is the best solution to end bitterness and find peace. You may not get anything by holding on to things. Holding on to the things will only increase your pain.

17. Blow All Your Problems

There is no problem in this world which does not have any solution. If you are facing any problem, just do not make a mountain out of it. Treat every problem like a feather and blow it away. Always focus on solutions rather than problems.

Find time for yourself. When you will find time for yourself only then will you find peace within. Aromatic oils, scented candles, and melodic music will  surely come for your aid, but being happy from within is the answer to your pursuit of finding peace. Exercise regularly, eat healthy food and keep smiling.

Peace of mind gets affected when our mind gets occupied with filthy emotions like anger, jealousy, sadness or envy. You will never find peace of mind until you listen to your heart, so be yourself and you will be experiencing peace soon.
