Signs Your Child Is a Victim of Bullying at School
Bullying at school may hamper the mental health and affect the grades of a child. So, it is a must for parents to learn about it signs and take right measure to help the child. Read on to know about the signs your child is a victim of bullying at school.

Kids get bullied in schools and this is not the case only with some specific schools. It happens anywhere in the world and as a parent you should be aware of the signs so that you can check and take action at the earliest. Just keep in mind that when bullying becomes serious enough, it can damage your child’s self-esteem permanently. Watch out for any or more of the signs before you take any action to stop to bullying.

1. Excuses for Not Attending School

Since school is the most preferred place for bullying, watch out if your child makes excuses especially on Mondays to skip school. In does not matter what the age of your child is, she can be a victim of bullying.

2. Complaints of Aches in Different Body Parts

Headaches and stomach aches are the most common complaints of children going through bullying. The main reason is that these two types of aches can be easily faked and opted to stay home and avoid social activities.

3. Excess of Crying or Emotionally Disturbed Child

If you find that your child starts crying on petty matters or seems emotionally disturbed, check out whether she is being bullied in the school or not. If the cry or emotional outburst is often on topics related to school, you should be alert because it could be a red flag.

4. New Friends Circle

Sometimes a sudden change in friends circle indicates bullying. You should try to know the details of the friends and be friendly with their parents. This will help you know when your child is left out of the group or gathering.

5. Change in Eating Habits

It can be more or less. If you find that your child has started losing interest in food or eats too much and too fast, you need to be alert. You need to talk to her. It might be a symptom related to bullying.

6. Sudden Drop in Grades

This is one of the most noticeable things especially when your child is studious and brings good grade. Bullying does not allow kids to focus and concentrate. You can talk to her teacher and friends too, but you should be careful and make sure you do not hurt your child’s feelings more.

7. Development of Clingy Behaviour

Your child was a happy child and used to play comfortably. If you notice that she is getting clingy these days or looks afraid of being alone, check things out.

8. Blames Self for All Problems

If your child has suddenly started blaming herself for every mistake or everything wrong that happens, you should be alert and watch out for signs carefully.

9. Physical Bruises Unexplained

If your child is unable to describe the bruises that she has got or about how her clothes got torn you need to be very cautious. If your child has a friend, you can gather information from her.

10. Child’s Things Get Missing Mysteriously

If you find your child’s favourite toy or anything she loves is missing and she is unable to tell you how that happened, she is in a trouble.
If your child shows any of these signs, you have all the reasons to believe that your child might be the chosen victim. It does not matter what stage of bullying your child is going through. You need to check that immediately. Make your child believe that you are always there to support her and love her. Meanwhile keep a close watch on your child, her habits and her behaviour. Talk to her good friends and try to find out if anything is wrong. If needed, take professional help.
