Too much consumption of figs may increase the chances of high blood sugar level so it is better to consume figs in moderate amount.

Benefits of Eating Fig during Pregnancy

A 50 gm fig contains 37 calories. Figs have high fibre content. During pregnancy, would-be mothers get hunger pangs. Consumption of fig will help them to provide the required calorie but they will not feel full or bloated. The dietary fibres present in figs are helpful in digestion. Figs are good source of iron which is required in great amount during pregnancy.
Many pregnant women get anaemic due to iron deficiency in their body and it may lead to lack of oxygen supply in the foetus. Consumption of figs is helpful in providing iron to the body and reduces fatigue and anaemia in would be mothers.
The calcium content of figs is helpful in bone development of the foetus and help mothers to get rid of bone pain which is common during pregnancy. Some would-be mothers get high blood pressure during their pregnancy period. Pectin present in figs help in lowering the cholesterol level in the body. Figs have potassium which is helpful in maintaining the level of fluid in the body of pregnant women.
