5 Ideas for Perfect Healthy Breakfast for Kids


If every day new and interesting food items are served for breakfast, your kids may finish it happily without making any fuss. Take a quick look at the 5 ideas for perfect healthy breakfast just for your kids right away.

When your kids wake up, you want them to have a healthy start of the day and be active all day. It is essential for them to boost their energy and concentration levels up by feasting on a healthy breakfast. A healthy breakfast keeps you charged all day – you surely want the same for your kids. Here are 5 great ideas for perfect healthy breakfast for kids.

1. Chapati Rolls

To make the breakfast heavy, you may like your kids to have chapatti with curries, but they may get bored of the same old breakfast. Instead, give them chapatti rolls. Heat oil, and fry onion, green chili, and garlic, until onion turns pink. Add chopped beans, carrots, cabbages, capsicum, and sweet corn, salt, chili powder, coriander powder, little turmeric powder, and cook in high heat for a few minutes. Roll this tasty mixed vegetables filling tightly in soft chapatti and serve them hot to your kids along with some sauce to dip.

2. Hot Dosas

Soak par boiled rice and whole skinned urad dal for 5- 6 hours separately. Soak fenugreek seeds along with urad dal. Drain water and grind dal into a fluffy batter. Grind rice adding water. Mix both the ground rice and dal, add salt to the batter, and leave it overnight for fermentation. Now your dosa batter is ready. Grease a non-stick tawa with oil and spread a ladle of batter on it and drizzle some oil on it – and your dosa is ready. You can add grated onions, carrots or capsicums and vary the size and shape of dosas for your kids. Serve hot dosas with hot sambar and chutney.

3. Healthy Sandwiches

Kids love sandwiches, and they cannot say no to delicious and healthy sandwiches. Cook grated carrots, beetroots and capsicums separately in heated oil for a few seconds. Add salt and pepper in each of them and keep it aside. Now take a slice of toasted whole-wheat bread and add a layer of cooked carrots, close it with second slice of whole-wheat bread and add the beetroot layer, now add the third slice of bread and add the capsicum layer, and finally close it with fourth slice of whole-wheat bread. Cut it diagonally and let your kids enjoy it with tomato ketchup.

4. Tasty Poha

Poha is another healthy breakfast option for your kids. Soak the poha in water for some time and drain the water completely. Heat oil and add asafoetida, curry leaves, mustard seeds, onions and the whole red chilies. Add potatoes when onions turn light brown. Add turmeric and cook over low heat. When the potatoes are cooked, add salt and poha, and mix well. Finally mix the delicious poha with few green chilies depending on how spicy your kids like it, and also add a dash of lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves.

5. Dal Paratha

Make soft dough of whole wheat flour. Soak moong dal for an hour, drain it and cook in a cup of water. Add asafetida and cumin seeds to heated oil in pan, and when the seeds sputter, then add the cooked dal, salt, chili powder, turmeric powder, and mix well – cook it until the dal mix is dry. Allow it to cool. Now roll dough with dal filling in center carefully without tearing. Roast the paratha with a little oil on a hot tawa until they are cooked properly. Serve hot Dal Parathas to your kids – they cannot be more happy!
