Week 11: Complete Development of Baby's Internal Organs

Week 11: Complete Development of Baby

Are you aware of the developments that take place in a baby during the 11th week of pregnancy? Read on to learn more about the developments that take place in a baby and bodily changes that you may experience during this week.

During the course of this week, all the baby's internal organs will have completely developed and most of them will begin to function. From this week on they will only grow in size so by the end of week eleven your little one is safe from developing any sort of congenital abnormality or being affected or harmed by most infections and a few drugs.
Over the next seven days she will look more and more like a real human baby, as we know it. Her face is taking shape as it grows more rounded and the back of the head has grown so the eyes can take up their natural frontal position. The ears are flatter but still have a long way to go for their final shape. But her limbs are still quite thin and short and her head quite large for the rest of the body. And you can actually see her elbows, knees ankles and wrists. The fingers and toes seem to be completely ready as they have separated out and are clearly defined.
The heart continues to pump blood to all the internal organs including the umbilical cord that supplies the blood to the placenta, which is growing simultaneously.

Crucial Developments during the 11th Week of Pregnancy

Your baby at the 11th week of pregnancy has developed almost all her vital organs. She is beginning to develop her body structure. Her genitals are also taking shape now. Her head is about half of the rest of her body. Your baby in fact can now suck her thumb, move her head from side to side, stretch and sigh. Her toes and fingers are separated completely now.
This is the time when your little angle shall be developing her ovaries or testes.

Development of the Head and Face

Apart from her head being developed well, you can also expect bone formation in her face. Her ears shall now migrate closer to the actual position. Her tongue and palate shall be in the mouth and the nasal passages too shall open. She can now taste and swallow the amniotic fluid. The tongue shall be very sensitive though.

Heart and Brain Development

Her brain is now producing around 250,000 nerves in a minute. Her heart development is almost complete and it resembles more like that of a new born. There is an opening at the atrium of heart and there is a bypass valve diverts that carries away blood from the lungs. Blood of your baby is oxygenated via the placenta.

Some Other Developments

She shall start developing her hair follicles on the crown of her head. She is also developing her irises that shall protect her vision from strong light. Your baby is around 4.7 cm in length and she shall double in size by the end of this week.
Her body shall get straight now and you can experience some somersaults inside now. She is on her way to form the diaphragm and you shall be able to feel her strong hiccups.

Doctor Visits during 11th Week of Pregnancy

It is time you visit the doctor now and see your baby on the screen. You shall be asked to go through the antenatal tests and doctors shall ask about your medical history. You can talk to your midwife about the medical screening tests and blood tests you should be prepared for. The ultrasounds performed at this week shall help look for any complications like Down syndrome, chromosomal activities and so on.
You might feel very excited to bring out the news about your pregnancy to your near and dear ones now. If you are working, do check the maternity rights and company policies well. This shall ensure you are well aware of your rights and not putting into risk life of yours or your little one.

Coping with Bodily and Hormonal Changes

You are going through so many changes now. It might be getting difficult for you to carry on with your beauty and health care routines now. You shall also find your skin too oily. Blame it on the hormones for all the changes you experience now. Unfortunately, you may also develop some stretch marks and may use some creams to prevent them only after consulting your doctor. Coconut oil or cocoa butter is said to be an effective solution when dealing with the marks.
You need to keep in mind that your baby is a separate individual and like the adults she too shall develop at her own pace. The information offered here is just are general guidelines about progresses and developments that babies go through generally in this week. For any questions or doubts it is always better to seek advice from your doctor. As long as the doctor is not worried, you too should be enjoying your pregnancy period.
