My friend from Delhi loves shopping. Especially so when she arrives in Mumbai. Last year, when she had come down, she invited me to lunch. She asked me to come at 1:30 p.m. as she had an appointment with the dentist at 12:30 p.m. When I arrived, he son, Sameer, greeted me at the door saying, “Mama’s not at home.” Although I knew she was at the dentist, I tried to pick up a conversation with this little 4 year old. So I asked him, “Where has your mummy gone?” “Shopping!”, he answered.

When my daughter was a year round, she had the habit of picking dirty pebbles off the road. To break this habit, I had told her that the pebbles would be dirty as the stray dogs would have peed on them. After 3 months of telling her this, her habit broke off. If my 14 months baby see god, immediately she keeps her hands together while closing her eyes, 'Dachi' (Namaskar). Only once I taught her to do so. When we were in an american store, at one corner she was doing so... we ignored that. We observed her twice doing same while crossing same place... When we saw that place we're surprised to see one small show piece, White Elephant was there painted it's parts in gold paint! Really it's amazing that piece was made in sacred Desi Style!!!! Our daughter Reina is 1yr old now. We have bought few cardboard books for her. We have taught her 'Tomato' and 'Onion' and she knows to pronounce them well. Whenever we ask her to say 'Tomato' she'll say 'Onion'. So one day I asked her to say 'Onion' with a hope that she would say 'Onion' but immediately she said 'Tomato'. We all burst out in laughter and wonder of how she could think and say the other word purposely. Same thing happens with A, B, C... Whenever we ask her to say A, She'll say B.
