Tiny Wonder
Baby Name: Reina Parent's Name: Stella Joseph
Our daughter Reina is 1yr old now. We have bought few cardboard books for her. We have taught her 'Tomato' and 'Onion' and she knows to pronounce them well. Whenever we ask her to say 'Tomato' she'll say 'Onion'. So one day I asked her to say 'Onion' with a hope that she would say 'Onion' but immediately she said 'Tomato'. We all burst out in laughter and wonder of how she could think and say the other word purposely. Same thing happens with A, B, C... Whenever we ask her to say A, She'll say B.
Who’s the Child?
Baby Name: Parent's Name: Gayatri Narayan
I was driving my children to school the other day, when one under-aged driver banged into my car. I got out and ranted and raved for the next 15 minutes, telling him what a bad driver he was, that he was under-age and I wanted his license, and how scared my children were…. After a while, my son popped his head out and said, “Mom will you stop wailing.”
Teachers Stink
Baby Name: Rishab Parent's Name:
It was my son’s first day at nursery school, and I was a little nervous, as Rishab talks too much. After the first lesson, the teacher asked, “Does everyone understand. Raise your hands if you have a question.” My little one raised his hand and asked her, “Have you had a bath?”
The Shopaholic’s Son
Baby Name: Sameer Parent's Name: Vanee Jaising
My friend from Delhi loves shopping. Especially so when she arrives in Mumbai. Last year, when she had come down, she invited me to lunch. She asked me to come at 1:30 p.m. as she had an appointment with the dentist at 12:30 p.m. When I arrived, he son, Sameer, greeted me at the door saying, “Mama’s not at home.” Although I knew she was at the dentist, I tried to pick up a conversation with this little 4 year old. So I asked him, “Where has your mummy gone?” “Shopping!”, he answered.
