5 Encouraging Phrases to Inspire Kids

"Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless!"

- Mother Teresa

There are many ways to motivate your child. Simple phrases and encouraging words can go a long way in inspiring and shaping your child’s personality. Words have a lot of power. It is up to us to use our words to inspire or destruct our children’s budding talents. In today’s competitive and stressful world, daily encouragement and motivation can help kids in the long run.

These are some simple and encouraging phrases to say to kids:-

Thank you for your help!

This sentence sounds so easy to say, but how many parents really stop and thank their kids for any kind of help? Whether it is helping mom to lift the bag of groceries, or holding the door open for mom to come inside, any kind of help from children should be appreciated. When children are appreciated for doing the right things, they feel happy and make more efforts to be good and helpful. Children love to be praised and encouraged by parents. Some parents nag their kids a lot without realizing it. All children want love and approval from their parents, so when parents thank them for something, they feel on top of the world and make more efforts in future to please their parents.

That’s a very good observation!

Parents may set out to teach children the way of life, but very often, parents get to learn a lot from their children. Their fledgling brains and thirst for knowledge can sometimes provide a take on the mundane, which is so fresh and unique that it can astound you. Children sometimes observe things, which may have missed your eyes. During such times, you should praise your child and tell how sharp and watchful he or she has been. Children should be encouraged to be observant, alert and watchful, which can help them all through the life.

Look how far you’ve come!

Sometimes improvement happens slowly. We cannot always expect improvement overnight or immediately from kids. For example, when a child is not good at a particular subject like mathematics or science, but he is taking a lot of effort to do it well, then we should encourage them in their progress. If your child scores 70 marks out of 100 in Maths, you may be upset with his marks. The next time, if he tries even harder and scores 78 out of 100, then you should definitely build his confidence by appreciating it, no matter how small his achievement may seem in the larger scale of things. Teach him to work harder, and the next time, he can even go up to 85. You should encourage him and praise him for how far he has come. If he is discouraged or upset, tell him to look at the positive side. Tell him reaching 78 or 80 after scoring 70 in the previous exam is a great improvement and achievement.

You worked really hard to get this room clean!

There is a famous quote which says, “Cleanliness is next to godliness!” Children should be taught to always keep the house neat and tidy. Keeping the house clean brings positive energy. Teach kids to be cleanliness-conscious from a young age. Forming this habit right from a young age will be helpful to them in the long run. When we encourage and teach children to keep the home clean and they follow our instructions, we should appreciate their hard work. Suppose you don’t like a messy room or bed and your child is doing his best everyday to keep the room and bed clean, then you should appreciate him for his hard work and tell him what a good job he is doing. Tell him to continue the efforts and that it is making you very happy.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Children can be very understanding, from time to time. Although they are small, they can still be very caring and thoughtful. For instance, your child is hungry and wants you to prepare something to eat, but you are tired and tell him, “Please dear, I am very tired right now. Let me rest for ten minutes, and I will make something for you to eat after ten minutes…” If your child understands your situation and immediately agrees to wait patiently instead of nagging you, then you should really appreciate his understanding. Thanking him for his cooperation will indirectly teach your child to be patient and help him realise that you value patience.

These phrases sound simple, but they can have a lot of positive effects on your child. They can motivate your child in the right direction. We should always try and speak in a gentle tone with kids. Instead of criticizing them, parents should make them understand in a gentle manner. Positive words and encouragement will inspire your children and help them to want to be better human beings. Perhaps you will forget tomorrow the kind words you say today, but your child will cherish them over a lifetime.

How can you help your child become a better person? How can you appreciate your child’s efforts? What can you say to kids to help them become confident and well-rounded human beings? Discuss here.

Getting room cleaned is a big task for me. Whenever I ask my kids to clean their room, they do it halfheartedly. This time I appreciated them for cleaning the room and they were happy. now the plus point is that they always try to keep their room neat and tidy. Thank you Indiaparenting for giving such wonderful tips.,

These phrases are very common but seldom used by parents. When I said 'Thank you for your help' to my little one, he was very happy and now every time he asks if there is anything for him to do. I am amazed to see the transformation in him.
