If you spend some time in some local farmer’s shop you will be surprised to find natural freshness of fruits and vegetables available there. The freshness of the foods makes them superfoods and they have all the qualities needed to beat the seasonal problems as well. Above all they are comparatively less expensive too.

Most of you cannot imagine summer without watermelons. In fact, they are such a relief during summer days because they do not only help quench thirst and help you fill your tummy, but have various additional qualities. They are rich source of vitamin C, vitamin A, beta carotene and lycopene and these are antioxidants that help boost your immune system and even fight cancer. Presence of vitamin B1 and B2 helps you remain hydrated during hot summer days.


Berries are one of the biggest superfoods when it comes to fighting diseases. They are also considered as brain boosters and they are available fresh and juicy during summer months. You can make a refreshing smoothie or add it to yogurt parfait, you are going to get the benefit of this amazing fruit.


Juicy peaches are inseparable from summer season. It has skin enhancing vitamin C, bloat fighting potassium and weight controlling fiber. Although you will prefer having this fruit fresh and raw, many grill them to get a completely different flavour. Whip up a smoothie and add fresh peaches to it or toss some grilled ones to your salad; you are definitely going to love your dish.


Fresh corn truly symbolizes summer and is considered as starchy vegetable when eaten fresh. Some like this superfood by simply grilling it and adding lemon juice and pepper to it. You can enjoy this low cost superfood by just visiting your nearest local farmer’s shop during summer evenings.


This nutrient rich super fruit is one of the favourites of many people during summer season. It is loaded with heart healthy monounsaturated fat and has enough fiber in each fruit.


Apricots are a great snack being a great source of beta carotene. It also provides sufficient amount of vitamin C, potassium, fiber and even iron which is the reason why it is considered as diet friendly fruit.


These bite sized orbs provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, arthritis, type 2 diabetes and some cancer. Cherries are best when eaten raw. However you can have them with yogurt or top them on your oatmeal.


Raspberries have high nutritional value and they are rich in vitamin C and fiber. They play a vital role in improving the health of the heart, and helps in preventing cardiovascular diseases and age related declines.

Summer is a good season to indulge in fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables. You can work and come out with some delicious and nutritious treat with the superfoods available during summer.
