Things Children Really Need While Growing-Up

Things Children Really Need While Growing-Up
It is necessary for parents to understand what children really need while growing-up. Read on to learn about the things that children really need while growing-up.

There are many ways in which families nurture and support physical, academic and social emotional development of kids. For a healthy and happy path of life, it is important that parents pay attention to certain aspects related to children’s growth and development especially up to 11 years of age. You can develop a safe and nurturing home environment, staying involved in children’s school education along with providing children the input and direction they need to grow as well as have social and emotional capabilities to tackle problems in everyday life.

Bringing-Up a Child

One of the most difficult tasks in this world is to bring up a child. Most people gather knowledge from their surroundings or use one from their own upbringing. Most of these come out inappropriate for their own children leaving them confused. Sometimes classes in parenting skills turn out very helpful. However, some people rely on books and articles also.

1. The Role of Discipline

Disciple helps parents to show their children what kind of behaviour is acceptable and what is not in the society. When you establish boundaries, you actually help your child lead a happy life because they come to know what is expected of them and how they should behave in a society. This will help your child grow into a responsible adult.

2. The Importance of Self-Discipline

The formation of a child’s self-image depends largely on the way her parents interact with her. The use of good and bad words has their impact on self-esteem and self-worth of any child and helps build or break her self-confidence. Body language also has its impact on a child. Praising and rewarding good behaviour while teaching how to eradicate bad ones are very beneficial. Make sure your child knows you love her.

3. Importance of Family Time Together

Since finding time together for families are becoming scarce these days, it is important to coordinate the schedule and try to have at least open meal daily as a family. If that is not possible, there should be at least four to five meals in the week when the entire family sits together and has meal.

4. Let Everybody Talk

Being attentive and interested becomes slightly difficult for parents as they have their own busy schedules. Make sure you take some days out specially to spend time with your kids. Some families like to have a chat every week or on weekends. This is the time when parents should make sure that every child gets the time and attention as well as everyone is allowed to express. Children should know that they can share their feelings without being shouted at.

5. Importance of Good Communication

When you listen to your child and make her listen to what you are saying with patience, your child comes to know what good communication is. On the other hand, if parents just ask their kids to follow their instructions continuously, one day kids will stop paying attention to them. In fact, explaining things and giving your children proper time to explain is much more productive in the long run. This will teach your child to think and speak in cohesive and structured manner.

6. Parents as Role Models

Always keep in mind that your children constantly look at you and they follow your action more than your words. Your child would often repeat your words and behaviour because you are her role model. So, if you show signs of respect, honesty, kindness, friendliness, generosity, hospitality and give compliments often, your child will turn out to be more or less similar personality as she grows up.
Remember, you are responsible for the direction and guidance for your children. The best thing you can do is express continuous and unconditional love to your children.

What do children really need while growing-up? How to raise happy and healthy children? Which things should parents remember while raising children? Discuss here.
